Doesn't help you on the trail. Everyone take just $25 of your stereo budget (if you have one) and send it to Blue Ribbon Coalition or any other pro-access agency, this is money well spent!

Whatever I find at the Pawn Shop generally. :D

Trick is it needs to be loud enough to hear over the soft-top, turbos, and Swampers on the highway to the trail head.. but once you get there, you rarely use it since you're talking on the CB or yelling to your spotters...

Also helps to use it to drown out the hecklers in the Little Sluice :D

I'm still putting my early bronco back together but here's what i have planned:

- 4 Polk Audio Full Range GXR69, 6x9's ( 2 in the very back near the tailgate on the sides, then 2 closer to the middle on the sides

- 2 Polk Audio Mid Range DX6510, 6 1/2's ( looking at mounting them somewhere on the roll bar

- 2 Polk Audio/Momo Tweeters MM400, 1 inch ( in the dash or also in the roll bar )

- 2 Polk Audio Subwoofers GNX124, 12 inch ( in two seperate wedge boxes behind the passenger and driver's seat )

- Haven't decided on a head unit yet

it's pretty picey.. if you have to pay the retail price :flipoff2: having a uncle that works at Polk just owns ;)

BUT all that crap can wait... i still need my radius arms, lift, tires, lockers, shocks and shit... so for now i'll probably be with the full ranges only

no stereo so i can hose out the interior. Eventually I want to get some marine stuff so i can hose out the interior and still listen to tunes. It's hard to spend that money though when there are a zillion things i'd rather do to my truck.

A radio in a willys? That would just be wrong :barf:

But who could hear it over the header mufflers and the whine of the D18 anyway?

Nate C

Uhhhh.....pioneer am/fm w/casette and 4 speakers in the doors....nothing expensive. I can't hear much over the urethane motor/trans mounts and the swampers, so it doesn't really matter. Besides, I usually wheel with the cb on and the stereo off. It's nice to have tunes during lunch break sometimes, but I go wheeling to get away from it all....not to bring it all with me!

BTW, can't stand hearing cranked up music from the camp across the way, so to speak.

My truck was once and currently is again a daily driver, so I had to go big on the stereo after deciding to run 35" boggers:
-Kenwood deck
-cd changer
-4 polk 3/4" silk titanium tweets (two in doors, two in custom pods in cage)
-2 polk 6.5" coaxials
-2 polk 3.5" monaxial mids
-2 polk 5.25 monaxial mids
-2 orion xtr dvc 10's (lifetime warranty) custom "glassed" box
-punch 400 (subs)
-coustic 360 (mids/highs)
-polk crosovers

Somehow I managed to fit all of this in my regular cab toy, so I'm one of those guys that you can hear from across camp

Stereo wasnt a high priority... obviously...
got a prestige (audiovox) top of the line.. if there is such a thing... paid 100 bucks wholesale for it... retail was like 300... not a bad stereo... still does the job
two 4x6;s in the dash, and two pioneer 6.5's in the soundbar.. If it wasnt my daily driver, Id yank everything out.. But being that it sees a lot of road time and trail time, I keep the tunes...

I ripped an old crappy JVC deck out of an old junker, and wrapped it in electrical tape to keep the CJ water works out of it.

I hooked it up to some Advent indoor outdoor speakers (water resistant) I had kicking around and mounted them to the tub, on the rear wheel wells.
There are speakers in my dash but they arent hooked up since this crappy deck only has one set of outputs for speakers, it has some rca outs, but I'm not going to hook any more crap up.

This system sucks..but it is sounds. :D

This all replaced a fairly pricey Kenwood deck that I was stupid enough to put in the CJ without protection...

What did I learn?...dont spend money on sounds in a rig that gets as dirty, and wet, and nasty as my CJ does.

My stereo is never on while riding. I got enough going on trying to listen for stuff breaking, Spotters, and the CB to even bother to turn it on. Wouldn't hear it at hwy speeds either. I got a crappy AVX with some inexpensive indoor outdoor speakers. Works for listening too when we break for lunch.

Radio's broken. (Stupid cheap '80s K-Mart stuff)

Cheap cause it's gonna get wet and muddy:D (at least here in Washington)

My $34.95 stereo (included two 4" speakers) has worked for 5 years of hard wheeling and sitting in the rain...even a couple of pressure wash jobs...oh that's right, I keep it in my center console so it doesn't get ruined:D

I threw away the small speakers and used a $20 pair of kraco 6x9s which still work even though the paper has gotten wet a trillion times:confused: .

To sum it up...$54.95 for the entire "system":rasta:

I sure wouldn't put more than that into a "system" for a wheeler, maybe a daily driver but definitely not a wheeler.

The only requirement for the "system" is that I have to be able to hear it at 75 mph with the top off:D
Seriously, with ear plugs in you can hear the radio and cb just fine.

I got a pioneer hu
5 1/4 infinitys in my center console
a pair of 12 infinity perfects subs welded to the bronco with 700watts going to each.
But these are almost useless due to my exhast and swampers:D
plus my speakers are basicly waterproof.
