Ok here is the deal I just picked up a dana 60 rear and a 44 front both 8 lug pattern the yard said they were out of a waggy but I am not sure I am thinking j series? i am building up a yj and was wondering what is the best width to run these axles? does anybody have any info on these axles and where do I take the right measurements from I did it from the backing plates but is that where they should be measured from?? And does anybody know what would be the best set up for these axles on a yj, I havent been in the 4wheeling scene in a while so i am trying to find out what would be the best route to take with these axles to build up that killer yj... Always measure axle width from the wheel mounting surface to the wheel mounting surface (wms-wms). The backing plates are not a good place to measure axle width since you don't know where the wheel actually mounts.

those are out of a J20. waggies never came with 60s.

It will depend on how big a tire you want, what eng you got, and how hardcore you want to be.

I was Hardcore 2 years ago so i am not going to build a pussy show truck you know... So yes definetly harcore probably 36's pr 38's SOA with some lift, I just want to know what deirection to go with these axles, can i go full width with these axels???

If I'm not mistaken, stock YJ axles are 60" WMS to WMS. You can go full width, you may need to get different backspacing depending on your local laws for fenders & the tires sticking out.

If the 60 is out of a J truck then it is offset to the passenger side 3"

well the 60 is a rear and the 44 is in the front, 44 has passenger side pumkin which wont matter cause I am doing an atlas anywhere and I'll get the passenger side output but I am wondering if there is any other mods needed to be done to change the pumkin to passenger side on a yj

Yes, the rear 60's were offset with or without Quadratrac t-cases

I recently had a 60 and 44 built for my YJ to go SOA I have done a ton or research and i decided to got 62". this is a little wider than the stock 59.5". I wanted a bit wider axels for better stability becuse you loose a little with the bigger lift. Just my take on it. <IMG SRC="smilies/biggrin.gif" border="0">

Go full width!!!! My front is 69" and my rear is 65. Im running 2.5 backspacing wheels that are mounted on 38.5x14.5x15. ANd it my DAILY DRIVER!!!! <IMG SRC="smilies/biggrin.gif" border="0">
