Going to be getting some new skins for the Sammy and we're thinking about some 35" MTR's or even some new BFG MT's. Anyone run the new BFG's or the MTR's? I know one thing, the BFG's are CHEAP! The Boggers work well but we need a taller tire with more of traction range and we couldn't help but notice that everyone and there mothers are running the MTR's. Who has what around here?

After watching MTRs at a couple of events where they were the only thing hooking up in the slickest stuff, I bought MTRs. I cant wait to use em. I got mine at the tirerack..$156 not too bad.

My buddy bought some BFGs for his dads rig at ProRock so they could be in for contingencies. They cut a BFG in the first few runs of the day and finished the weekend on the MTRs they brought down with them. They are now MTR diehards.

I've heard there are some difference in the rubber they use for the 37's 35's and the 33's. 37's are said to be stickier than the rest.

Out of curiosity, what was Tracy Jordan running?

He had some of the 37x17 BFG's, he wasn't sure how they did cause of all the loose sand that was on the rocks.

I was watching 35s back when only a few had those, but I would love a set of those 37s someday.

A very good friend of mine had three sets of MT/R's... 31's, 33's, and 35's... on his TJ and absoluetly loved them. I can vouch that they were great tires after seeing them do many tough trails here in Colorado (Mt. Blanca, Holy Cross, Iron Chest, etc, etc). They preformed great in the rocks. He wanted to try a new set of tires, for S and G, so he bought some 35" BFG KM's.
He HATED them. On the first run, he ripped off one of the outside lugs on a rock. Second run, he had them aired down to about 12 psi. After airing up and returning home, he found out he had a slow air leak in his rear tire. Turns out the rim protector on the new KM's got wedged under the rim of the wheel, not letting it seal. Very upset with the tires, he sold them and bought some 35" SSR's to try out.
He hasn't put too many runs on the SSR's yet, but he likes them so far. He has noticed that they are wearing very quickly, though.
I will be going with MT/R's when I decide to fork over the dough for a new set of rubbers. :D ~Steve

If fatkid doesn't take your AT's (which is undertstandable, since they're not MT's) I'll buy 'em off ya... I need a set of street tires to drive up to LBL, Kentucky next month.

I don't particularly feel like burning up half the read on my TSL on the trip. :(

So is there any truth to the rumor that they are finally going to be selling the highly coveted 37" MT/R at a reasonable price? I might get some if they are affordable by then. ;)

i know a lot of you west coast guys like the mtrs, but if you get into any real mud or wet slick rocks they suck. i haven't seen anyone in this part of the county like them. but if its desert wheeling they seem to do fine. i just wish interco would do some sponser set up, i bet you would see a lot more swampers. but it would not be boggers, they are worse than the mtrs on slimy rocks.

i'm running 32 BFG MT K/M's and i think they are great. Personally from what i see of the goodyears is they are way over rated and over priced:flipoff2::flipoff2:. i've took my 32's though about 3 feet or so of mud not aired down and they did great. for the money i would go with BFG's, if i had the money i would run Xterrains

Fatty: After your done grooving 'em run em on the street at 3 psi @30 mph for 45 minutes. It is crazy as he** but it made Tim Hardys boggers flex like crazy, even on a light little zuk. Might want to give it a try before you ditch 'em.

This is a good idea for any tire you only want to use offroad.
