I’ve got a 2001 Chevy Tahoe 4x4 and am planning a lift. I want to go with the CST 6-8” /w dual Bilsteins, 16x8 wheels and LT315/75R16 or LT375/65R16 Mickey Thompson Baja Claw Radials. Not sure what wheels I want yet, but will I have any problems with weight or rubbing on the larger tires? Are there any flaws in my plan? I drive daily and only see dirt about a few times a year (before the lift).

Let me know what you think.
Thanks
Russell

With that truck I wouldn't go with anymore than the 6 inch lift because of the IFS.. It will be bad enough with the 6 but the 8 not only will require more mods but you will wear out ball joints and other front end parts a lot faster..

Depending what what backspacing the wheels have will determine how much rubbing you will have along with the width of the tire.. If you go over the 315 tire size that will not only add extra weight but it will be harder on your CV axles as well..

I don't know why you would run dual shocks with that set up because all it's going to do is make your truck ride a lot stiffer.. But I'm guessing you want it more for looks then anything..

What additional mods would you suggest if I was to go over 6"? I have seen some Tahoe's with the Cognito and Full Throttle lifts that look pretty sick. I also read that Rock Krawler Suspension will release this fall the 8.5" Coil Over IFS Desert Race System for Chevy/GMC 1500 SUV' and that BulletProof makes a lift but haven't been able to gather any info.

I beleive your asking the wrong people, but as far as shocks go, there's no need for dual shocks for a daily driver that sees little dirt. A properly valved mono-tube shock will work a lot better for you. If you are going just for looks though, be sure that your valving is good for a dual rate set up, otherwise the ride will suck.

ok throw your money away if you want to but....

Dual shocks aren't needed but if you are going for looks then go ahead, just make sure they are chrome. Chrome means quality! Oh, and if you run duals in the front then you have to run duals in the rear to balance it out. :flipoff2:

No more than the 6 for the daily driver. as stated above ifs wear very quickly with any amount of lift, tire size and weight added. You end up having to nit pick a lot of parts the bigger you go.
