View Full Version : uncut eb with 34x9.5" tires
sorry, no hardcore trail tech here. i still have my early bronco, and i don't know if it will sell anytime soon. if i can find a way to hang onto it, i probably will.
i have an fj-40 with 34x9.5" tsl on it. i'm going to 36's after my power steering and front axle is done. i'm thinking about putting the 34's onto my eb. the truck is still uncut, and if i can avoid cutting it i might. if i stuck a 3.5" superflex kit under it, would i be able to clear those 34's for street and light offroad use? the fj-40 is my main trail rig.

IIRC a 3.5" kit will clear 35's. so for light to medium trail duty i think you'll be fine

Try it. I believe your combo will work with skinny tires. Any wider and I don't know. We did an eb with 5.5 susp and 3 body for 42's. The tub was uncut and we stuck the 42's on just for grins. It looked SWEET. But a speed bump would have put them into the fenders.....
i might cut it, i don't know. i have a trail rig, so i figured i might try this for something different. thanks for the input.

I don't know who's been saying that.
I'm running 3.5" JD Lift and 3" WH body lift on 35x12.5x15 BFG MTs (measure in @ 34.5") and I'm not sold on it being enough.
I know you are looking at 9.5" wide tires but, your gonna need some serious lift and/or cutting of your fenders to clear them. Sorry...

you're probably right. i think i'm gonna cut it anyway, unless some resto freak wants to pony up the cash for it before it's cut. :D

Until a few years ago, my eb was uncut and I was running 33x9.50 BFG MTs on it with stock rims. That setup tucked the tires inside the stock fenders quite nicely and all I had to do was trim a little of the fender lip off in front of the tire on each side. I had an old worn out WH 3.5" lift and 1" body lift and had no rubbing. Got some wierd looks in Moab though. I was contemplating stepping up to a set of 34x9.50 swampers but decided to cut it and run 38" boggers. My guess is that they would fit fine.

My uncle had a 68' that was uncut that they ran in stock class with 34x9.50's IIRC, the tires tucked into the rear uncut fenders with stock 15x6 rims

I say you get the 3.5", and then see how much more room you need - then make room. I wouldn't cut to begin with. I'd see how much I had to cut, and do the minimum.

One thing is for sure those pizza cutter tires are easier on parts than those big ole fat steam roller tires. And they seem to work better in deep mud.
