What's the difference between high pinion and low pinion axles? :shaking:

high pinion has the pinion above the axel tube line, low pinion below.
HP is more desirable due to less of an angle in your driveline, and more clearance.
and just so ya know, the pinion is what transfers power from the driveshaft(well, more specifically the yokes at the end of the drive shaft) to the ring gear in the dif.

The reverse cut gears in a high pinion are also stronger than the low pinion gear set in a front axle application (but weaker in a rear app.).

So to summarize for sadcj7, normally it's desireable to have a HP front axle and a LP rear axle.

unless you go with a true hi9 (reverse cut gears and 9" ring gear) they are actually stronger as the forces on worm gear are put on the outer part of the caseing and not on a smaller part of caseing
