I have a 1-ton Chevrolet 4x4 that has a 87 Chassis and a 83 body. I recently installed a 3" body lift. Everything fit fine except now the emergency brake cable is too short by about 2". The cable has two main sections prior to splitting to go to each rear wheel. The first section that connects to the pedal also connects to the body mount bracket on the frame. My first thought was to make a new bracket and move it closer to the front of the cab but there is not enough all thread on the adjustment to allow for the move. So if any one knows of a longer brake cable for the first section l would appreciate the information on it.
Thanks,

might get one of those repair cable kits at Napa and splice it in. i did the second section of cable- the big one that loops to through the allthread adjuster and goes to the cables that come out of the drums. not sure if that will work for the first section of cable though. just a thought.

My Bud on CK5 gave me this link this morning - haven't had time to call but the website looks promising.

Maybe move everything forward and have longer cables (the ones that connect to your drum/disk) made?
I think that is what I will end up doing because of the 1" body plus 6" susp lift...

If it the equalizer cable that interconnects the two cables from wheel to wheel and runs through the adjuster bracket, you can buy bulk cable at any good hardware store and have new ends swedged on it. Custom! I have done this a few times with no problems...
Just make sure if you are using the coated wirecable, remove the plastic coating on the area you are putting the swedge on. Otherwise the swedge will come off at the worst possible time.
Another option is to get a longer cable off a long wheel based vehicle and shorten it to size, reswedging the end you cut down....:skull:
