: 9" Am I asking to much ?
caryt 09-05-2005, 09:18 AM Not wishing to get flamed so if this is inappropriate please delete.
Here's what I have..Currie Extra HD houseing 3.25"dia., .250 thick with HD welded skid , Explorer disk brakes with integral parking brakes, Currie 31 spline axels with tapered bearings and Hd retainer plates, Currie Strange nodular iron case, Currie Hd pinion support, 4.86 with Detroit locker. Its stock EB width, complete rearend.
I would like to sell complete $2000.00 This is off my EB and has 6500 total miles which includes 2 trips to the Rubicon. This will cost over $3k new so I think this is a good deal  What do youa'll think?
Thanks, Cary
EBSTEVE 09-05-2005, 10:15 AM I think you will have a hard time getting $1000-1200 for it. I know the parts are worth more but how many people want one and have the cash to buy one.
mdapperdan 09-05-2005, 02:35 PM If I'm not confusing you tread with another, I believe you were considering parting it out? I would be interested in the N-case, pinion surport and retainer plates. For a fare price.
Just a thought,
Dan
F0rdFre@k 09-06-2005, 10:06 AM General rule of thumb,
Start @ 1/2 of the original cost and adjust according to wear and availability of the items. Then adjust again according to the overall need for the items.
Never be afraid to ask too much for something. Someone may pay for it. But, if you want to get rid of it quickly, you are going to have to accept the fact that it's not worth as much as you may have thought.
If you are in no hurry, hold onto it and wait to get what you want. If you part it out, you'll probably make more then you expected but, you'll always have something left over lingering around until you finally get rid of it.
Good luck with your sell.
Personally, I'm buying a D44/4.56 Gears/Detroit Locker/Disk Brakes/Warn Premium Hubs/High Steer Tie Rod and Drag Link and a BB9"/4.56 Gears/Detroit Locker/31 Spline Axles for $1000.00.
Then, I'll sell my D44/3.50/Open/Drum w/ Disk conversion kit un-installed and my BB9"/3.50 Gears/Open/New Drum Brakes. I haven't set a price yet but, I'm sure to make back a bit of what I'm spending on my swap axles.
welndmn 09-06-2005, 10:10 AM Not if you find the right person, but most people don't need the Currie housing and what not.
caryt 09-06-2005, 10:55 AM Well hopefully I find a EB guy as thats the best chance at getting $$
Thanks, cary
F0rdFre@k 09-06-2005, 03:28 PM Post your axle on classicbroncos.com in the classifieds section. Since they are restricted to Early Broncos. You have a much better target audience. Here, I think 9" axles are considered too small. ;) :p :D :D :D
mdapperdan 09-06-2005, 06:02 PM After reading what was disscussed in your tread. I since I'm on a budget and interested in the above for the sum of $800. I can pick-up
Thanks Dan
ptownTSI 09-07-2005, 07:16 PM i might actually be interested in buying it, less than 2k, but not a pure low-ball, if you will ship it. forward air, truck freight to a business, doesnt matter.
how wide is "stock EB" width...i'm a jeep guy :flipoff2:
caryt 09-08-2005, 06:30 AM 58", overall. 53" houseing width. Depending where it needs to be shiped I will deliver or possibly pickup the shipping costs or part of them. Discount ...I'll sit on it till I get whats its worth. Guys buy these all the time paying $3k++ then shipping and sometimes tax. I want a steal also when I buy something but if its still a good deal and I need it... I get it.
