I'd ditch the stock seats for something lighter...are you going to keep the front clip as is? or are you going to narrow it up?
TOAdisco311 09-08-2005, 06:40 PM Any updates?
Grimace 09-08-2005, 11:15 PM no update from me but I AM INSPIRED :grinpimp:

I think I'll leave the top on the Discos and chop a Rangie-Shopboy needs a tube rig!
afirover 09-09-2005, 07:05 AM PT why does shop boy need that you know you can not keep weed/s from blowing away and getting wet > How ever might be a great place to start some :flipoff2:

Grimace 09-11-2005, 11:54 PM i am getting hard
wat diffs are under that thing?? d44 rear??
Man it looks sweet, I have removed and refitted the rear seats about 10 times this year, purly for extra passangers  :shaking: a simple cheap bench seat is the next step or maybe even just sum padding stuck to the floor and to the rear panel :p
aloharover 09-12-2005, 07:10 AM wat diffs are under that thing?? d44 rear??
Dana-60's. Look like a Dynatrac cover.
Search RoverTruck60s other posts and you can find more photos of the truck pre-body removal.
PTSchram 09-16-2005, 07:29 AM I'd very much like to see some pics of the slider attachment to the frame/body.
After last week's trip, AFIRover and I are gonna need to do some exo-tubing on our rigs. I've flopped once and it sure looked like he was gonna endo-backwards! :flipoff2:
I'm kinda leaning toward an indo-exo cage, but I think AFI's gonna go full exo with his truck.

Gusseted box section welded to 0.25" plate welded to the frame with a little cutting of the sills.
RoverTruck60's 09-18-2005, 05:27 PM Went out wheelin this weekend, found some weak links(motor mount & lock out hub). The truck is 90% done and I just have to finish the cage & hydro assist, put a limiting strap up front and reinforce the motor mounts. My friend will post some pics soon. All in all I was extremly pleased on how the truck preformed & we had a great time.
madcowdungbeetle 09-18-2005, 09:48 PM Here ya'll go. The truggy in all it's glory. I predict an increase in feline deaths tonight.

When you gonna test out the cage!! :flipoff2:
Buckon37s 09-18-2005, 11:00 PM you running on 40 psi?
Bluewater 09-19-2005, 12:42 PM When you gonna test out the cage!! :flipoff2:
i was wondering the same thing...I like it tho.
jabber 09-21-2005, 01:15 AM roll that bitch and let us know how she really handles.... :flipoff2:
I thought I'd see some good pics... ;)
m016324 09-21-2005, 06:28 AM why are you running dual air shocks up front?
-ben
PTSchram 09-21-2005, 08:18 AM OK, let's see some pics of the front suspension. I just noticed the radius arm attachment point forward of the C/L of the axle, and above the housing...
I'll have my front 60 early next month and need some ideas before I get started throwing sparks.
SeaRover 09-21-2005, 09:52 AM props for keeping the 4-seater arrangement. I assume real seats with 5pt harnesses are next on the list?
madcowdungbeetle 09-21-2005, 03:57 PM why are you running dual air shocks up front?

weight of the Discovery would be putting single Fox shocks at their limit and longevity would become a concern... and the 2.5 Fox's weren't available yet.

for the price of two air shocks you could have gotten full coil-overs. I'm still not sure that one shock wouldn't have worked. Seems like a waste to me but hey not my truck so who am I to say. Still a way cool truck

madcowdungbeetle 09-27-2005, 10:40 AM Here's a few more pictures of the Truggy. We played with it a little bit this past weekend, and then set up the hydro assist...using the stock pump and box.... more on that later... but initial reports say that "hippie-hydro" kicks some serious ass.

I am in luv
cant get enough pics, more more more :grinpimp:
madcowdungbeetle 09-27-2005, 09:58 PM I'll have a whole lot more pics too.. I'll post more later....
Also the truggy will be going to Tellico this weekend :D
Gremlin 09-28-2005, 12:38 AM May i ask why all those bends and fancy shapes in the cage?? Especially the windscreen section and top section?? You should have kept it clean and straight so in the event of a roll the forces transmitted will be shared on all the tubes in compression, bends make the tubing weak. Just my 02c!
Grem
DiscoDino 09-28-2005, 06:09 AM Don't mean to be an ass, and I am usually in for hardcore stuff and pushing the limits, but that thing is FUGLY after ALL the tubes were put it...I'll be going with something more simple and straight forward...
To each his own...
ENJOY :)
Dave_Lucas 09-28-2005, 06:56 AM  It reminds me of that Microsoft Windows screen saver where the tubes go all over the place
bronko 09-28-2005, 07:06 AM Looks different, but can you see out the windshield?

Jtisdale 09-28-2005, 11:34 AM Let's hear more about the hydro setup, before and after Tellico.
Tis
Bluewater 09-28-2005, 12:02 PM I dont think its that bad looking overall it's just that green cage i think it looked alot better black. Nice work though.
madcowdungbeetle 09-28-2005, 01:16 PM To answer the tube work/color questions, thats how he wanted it so..... :flipoff2:
Visibility out of it isn't quite as bad as you would initially think.
As far as "hippie-hydro goes" I'm eager to see how it holds up to Tellico. I'm not worried about the pump, or the cylinder, but I'm just not sure how robust the Rover box is... especially with 40" tires. My sister's stock 98 Discovery went through a box within 60K miles, the new one blew a seal at 80k, only 20k on the actual box, and the one on my trail rig has constantly had issues.... Needless to say I don't have much confidence with the Rover box, hence why I'm going to try and swap a big Saginaw box onto my rig. I'll make a seperate post about the hydro later today when I'm home.
RockRover 09-28-2005, 10:06 PM I like it! Flippin' bad ass bro.
Don't listen to the nay-sayers who "...will eventually have something better". I like the overall line and the fact that it's way outside of the box.
The owner will love it too, especially when he's hitting lines that he's only dreamed of with a stock'ish rig.
Rustyveedub 10-07-2005, 01:49 AM What machine did you use to bend the tube? as it did a nice job.

I agree, there are a lot of tubes in that cage that have little or no contribution to strength, but if they had been straight (or placed at a node instead of the middle of a section) they would have made a significant difference to overall strength.
But all that said, it will probably be strong enough...
RoverTruck60's 10-07-2005, 01:31 PM Hey Guys, Glad to report that Tellico was everything I thought it would be and more! To answer everyone's question on how the truck preformed, To sum it up in one word ... AWSOME!!!! Carnage done: broken O2 sensor & 1 spark wire melted. Hydro steering worked great. Big Thanks to my friend Jon! Our group ran slick rock, lower 2 & upper 2(at night in 10-15min.) I LOVE NOT BREAKING STUFF!!!
P.S. All I,ve got to say is that it was worth all of the money & time spent just to go up lower 2 and not get stuck or winch!:flipoff2:
RoverTruck60's 10-07-2005, 02:07 PM there are pic, under general disussion,Dixie run post.
DiscoDino 10-07-2005, 03:34 PM Saw the pics in general - congrats man...It sure is ncie not breaking stuff!
darkstar 10-07-2005, 03:49 PM got any details on the hydro?
madcowdungbeetle 10-07-2005, 04:01 PM yea, i'll put a post together in a minute about what all i did.
Grimace 11-13-2005, 10:02 PM d00d I still luv this thing.
Got a Q for yah reguarding suspension height. Just roughly, how high over standard is the ride height and wat body lift (if any) have you fit.
edit: just looking on a different PC and can see you have a 2" boy lift. so just info on the rough suspension height increse thanx dood.
I got the Iroks and test fitted them to the front yesterday and they are fawkin huge, I am ready to cut but just want an idea of your setup to compare clearances.
Cheers
Anthony
madcowdungbeetle 11-14-2005, 06:02 PM d00d I still luv this thing.
