I have a 97 TJ with a AX-15, this morning when I started it, it was in reverse and took off, I had to shut it off and pop it out of gear, I then restarted it and tried putting it in gear, and it would not go. I had to put it in gear with it off and start it in gear. Should I just buy a new clutch or is there anything to check first, besides the fluid, I already checked it and it was full.

if it moved then i doubt the clutch is bad. sounds to me like the clutch is not dissengageing from the motor.

Kinda sounds more like a clutch slave-cylinder or fork problem. Does the cluch pedal go straight to the floor or is there some resistance?

There is some resistance, still feels the way it should.

A few people have told me that it is probably the master cylinder, because if it was the slave cylinder I would have lost all fluid. Do you guys agree with this?

..... sounds like you need to check both you clutch master, and your slave cyl..... pull up the carpet near the pedal and see if there is fluid leaking/ check fluid level of the clutch master.... then look inside the bellhousing area of the slave clyinder and try to see and fluid being slung around in there, i ended up replacing the whole clutch in my ranger just b/c i failed to diagnose that my master cyl was F'd, if i had known how to bleed it properly, i probably would have been on the road the first night..... if you need help as far as bleeding the master pm me please.... ill help you out...
