So, I replaced the one on the tranny, and promptly broke the other side (tcase) and maybe one or both motor mounts. Grrrrr....
3 more in the mail tomorrow, but wanted to bitch a bit tonight.
So, according to the searched, I should just keep 6 or 8 around as spares now? :flipoff2: Damn rovers.

I broke 3 last weekend! Playing too hard I guess... I have been told that the mounts for the 2.5 NA Diesel are significantly tougher maybe a Mil Spec? Since I have put all four in now I guess I will find out?

I've been running the diesel mounts for a month and so far so good. Can't trust a stock mount any longer. I have a dent on the bonnet frame where the alternator was hitting it, holding the motor in the bay. ;) Yikes.

You search should have turned up references to Jaguar V12 engine mounts. They have been mentioned quite a bit here.
The jag mount is stronger, by having a larger diameter.
Because of the larger dia, they can not be used on the t/case and a mod is required to use on the gearbox - no problem for engine mounts.

Just a quick question, but how did u know when your transmission mounts needed to be changed, besides the obvious, like miles. Ive been getting some "bucking" on the highway when I hit 4th gear at about 50-55mph, and someone said to check the tranny mounts. Drives around town fine, only when it hits 4th gear, or that mph range does the bucking occur....
Sorry to hijack, but I thought it was semi-relevant.... :cool2:

Just look at them. A shredded mount is so obvious that it's scary. Suspect mounts will look old, with cracks and evidence of separation from the metal end caps.

I spotted it just lying under the truck checking on things after the weekend, pretty obvious. I will try to take some pics in the morning when I get started. I just ordered the regular mounts from AB, not expensive.

my morning of swapping the other three mounts, ALL toasted. I drove home on one good mount, not sure if that is a testament to Rovers or not.
When I jacked the engine up, both mounts had completely separated and rust is grippy
The drivers side is A BITCH TO GET TO...
all back together, alternator belt has squeeled recently so I put a wrench to it.
POP- off comes the bolt. Then I realized the other bolt on the tightener arm has been sheared by previous owner. 1 minute later with the angle grinder, the fixed bolts are out and new ones are in. I do believe I fixed everything I started on in the first day with no hangups.
Clearly the truck will explode tomorrow...
