Picked up a 1997 Vortec 5.7LTR engine to put into my FJ40. After about 1.5 years I am actually going to start reassembly. I have already rebuilt the tub with new steel. Frame is on garage floor and should be a rolling chassis by Thursday.
Wish me luck on getting the Vortec running properly!

I got the engine at a salvage yard. It is from a '97 Chevy pickup truck. The truck had been in a rollover but the engine was in good condition. The guy at the salvage yard ran it for me and it sounded sweet. It cost a good bit, but as I check around Denver this price was in line infact for Denver is seemed to be a good price. $2800.00 including everything whether I would use it or not. So at least I can see how it was hooked up. I got the engine, radiator, power steering cooler, all bolt on pieces -- altinator, power steering pump, a/c pump (can't be used for on board air), exhaust system, fuel tank, shroud, all wiring including the rear harness to the tank, fuel lines, computer, and he through in a York compressor so I can do on board air. It had 41,000 miles on it. I had a quote for one with 78,000 miles for $3200.00.
