...you've got a 26X19" Griffin Radiator in a YJ cooling a 395 HP LT-1.
I just ordered one the same size for my YJ/Ramjet 350.
I was wondering if you could post a pic or two of your homemade mounting brackets so I can see how you squeezed it in there...
Thanks a ton,

HighHooder 03-12-2002, 07:42 AM I just wanted to second the request
RokHeep 03-12-2002, 07:50 AM Adam and I have the same radiator. You will have to mod the grill a bit to get it to fit and fab up some mounts, but that is cake compared to the rest of the work. Since I moved the motor forward about 4", I'm going to cut out the back of the grill in order to push the radiator all the way forward. I'm sure Adam has some pics.
Charly 03-12-2002, 08:39 AM I'll third the request.
Looks to me like I can fit a 24 x 19 Griffin....taking into consideration the steering box down there in the corner and the rear of the headlight buckets. This is with mounting it in an 'as close to stock" position.
And here's a question: do the Griffin's come with a drain cock?

yes, yank the lower hose and drain...
No they do not.
If you haven't already bought a rad do a search for Howe Racing Radiators.
Mo-betta rads 4 less IMO.
THey got me what I wanted cheaper then the rest and with Killer customer service. They know there stuff, they got me a 36"x12" rad built exactly as I wanted to my door in less then 4 days! It keeps my 350 plenty cool and the quaility is top notch.

You can fit the 26 by 19 if you cut the grill and run Elec fan I run Black Majic fan and the radiators do not come with drain valve
this you will need to Add I just pull the lower radiator hose!
I am Building new front fenders and remounting the Rad like Donovan said you will need to cut the front grill for the 26 by 19
By the way Your radiator arrived Donovan!
I will try and find some Pics
Adam,
RokHeep 03-12-2002, 08:01 PM Cool! Did the Headers come also?
Bring my tube fenders also when you come by! ;) :D

Basically I dont know How my mounting could help you much
I have Tube fender's and it uses a upper and lower Support from the fenders and pushed as far as the grill will alow I would not trust the stock fenders for this mounting!
it is a sandwich type mounting you will see it when you get it !
I used 2 inch strap for the length of the Radiator support then made mounting tabs for the upper bar it attachs to the tube upper support ( aka rollover protection for radiator) and it uses 1/2 inch bolts to apply pressure to the Radiator does not need much Pressure!!
the lower mount has the same strap length of the lower attached to piece of tubing welded and bolted to frame using rub rails for the lower Radiator support and it has rubber for dampening
seems to work fine!
and thats about it!
Adam,
What are you guys spending on these Griffins? Where are you purchasing through, i.e. direct or some other outfit? I pretty much convinced on a Howe Racing setup. Couple guys in a local club run them, and they've got excellent pricing. A universal 19x26, which is what I am going to run in my bowtie powered CJ7, costs $219. They'll add some alum brackets for $50. They also sell a nice elec. fan for those who want to run them, for $125 or so.

don't waste your time on anything but a black magic fan

Why do you say that? I'm not arguing, just asking for you to elaborate. I've been looking online for fans lately and I've found a few with higher CFM ratings from other manufacturers that allow you to avoid the flex-a-lite tax...

I agree, elaborate please.
And Summit and Jegs (call and ask Jegs) sell Griffin's for $181 and there is just the standard $7.95 charge for S+H.
And I have the same question, why would you recommend a Howe over a Griffin? I need more than just your word (sorry, just don't know you).

well, I just purchased a Howe instead of a Griffen, and one of the deciding factors is the fact that the Howe is not stamped like the Griffen, it's constructed more along the lines of a BeCool ($$$$$$).

Griffin 19x22

Be Cool 19x22

While price is always a factor, construction ALWAYS is a factor:grinpimp: Howe=$200 Griffin=$190 Be Cool=$275

I made my decision purely based on input from club members. Looking at the pics HighHooder posted, I like the looks of the Howe over the others. What's up with BeCools bottom right port? Is that because of cost of is there a function benefit for that style/design?

Where'd you get that pricing? from Summit?
