: Question for anyone who has seen some of Shannon Campbells rigs up close...
Krylon.. 03-12-2002, 08:16 AM On his rig "Pinky" and on the "Yj" he built he ran leaves in the front on a custom chassis.. Do the front frame rails on the chassis angle downward to eliminate an overly large front sprong mount? Some of the pics I have seen in the mags look like the front rails angle down, but I wasn't sure.
We have made a similar frame to the one he used on the "Yj" and we made the front rails straight out.. If we keep it this way, we would have to make a mount coming off the frame rail about 4 inches lower than the frame just to get the shackle at a "normal" height...
Can anyone shed some light on how he did it?
Thanks!!!
aaronlosey 03-12-2002, 09:00 AM is all run shackles in the rear of the spring, does that answer your question?

Not really I know he runs the shackles in the rear of the springs like a Chevy, but he doesn't run large drop on the front spring mount so I was wondering if the front frame rails angled downward some....
BigRob 03-12-2002, 10:16 AM He probably just runs the rails flat instead of dropping them down behind the motor mounts like a stock frame!!....Just a guess though!:D

I have seen and ran with that thing a couple of times. I think the rails are flat. That jeep doesn't sit that tall and his springs angled up in the front. hope that helps.

So then the front axle doesn't have much upward pinion angle then right? That is what it looks like he has done but I wasn't sure..
Is he still running the 10/12 bolt set-ups on his current rig? And does his newer rig have leaves in the front and 1/4 elliptics in the rear?
Thanks!
morpheus 03-12-2002, 10:30 AM not sure which one of his rigs this is but i think it's the white one with the wing on top.

KYODER 03-12-2002, 10:30 AM The rigs I have seen him in have all been his new tubed rock buggy's. There are a bunch of those running around, all a little different, most have 1/4 rear, leave front, some have coilovers. go check out his web page.
KYODER 03-12-2002, 10:33 AM Last Arca event I say he had CO front and 1/4 rear. He has had 60's all last year

See in that pic it looks like the front frame rails angle down some... Looks like the back of the rail is higher than the front in relation to the tire.
Where did you get this pic at? I have looked on his site often, but no good close up pics...
fcfred 03-12-2002, 10:44 AM I think the frame is straight, but as you can see in the pic he used some shims.

From looking at the other pics on his site i believe the front and rear mounts are almost horizontal.

APRIL'S RAINMAN 03-12-2002, 03:53 PM ya i love his work . he is a member of our club az low rangers his rigs have an awsome attention to detail.and each rig seems to be better than the last .When i came back from germany i saw one of his 1st competition rigs the flat fender it did everthing super clean such as terminator ,predator and such . and he is winning almost everytime in the top 10 . but i believe his springs are even with the frame and he adjusted the perches on the axles .:usa:

I have thought of that but I dont want to bother him. Maybe I will send him an e-mail that way he can answer it if he has a spare minute if he wants to...
AZFord4x4 03-14-2002, 04:27 AM Mike, if you e-mail, you'll probably get ahold of his brother Nick. He knows his shit too, & is a damn nice guy. Don't hesitate to shoot something out to those guys, very easy to get along with.
