: Bob Roggy's Shop Got Broken Into....
4x4Grrl 03-12-2002, 10:39 AM Just spoke to Bob. Apparently while he was away at Calrocks this weekend some LOSER(s?) broke into his shop.
Kicked in one door and took his stand up air compressor.
Used a prybar to pull another door off the hinges so they could get in. They took:
12" Champion beadlocks (set)
Super Swampers (set)
Bilstein shocks (not coil over shocks)
I believe he said something about air tools or drills too.
He has not gone through everything yet. He just recently got to his shop to find this.
What the Hell is going on? Frigging thiefs! This is like the 3 in just a few months in our area of 4 wheel drive stuff.:mad3: :mad3:
If ANYbody should know anything please please say something. Give Bob or the local Sheriff Dept a call. This has got to be stopped.
badassjeepguy 03-12-2002, 10:43 AM that sucks! DO NOT BUY SHIT THAT LOOKS HOT........ your just supporting these fawks

Yes they are. He has been trying to get ahold of Jimmy Jack. He asked me to go ahead and post the info for him.
Mustard Dog 03-12-2002, 11:40 AM Did'nt his shop get burged just a couple months ago, or was taht another one up in the area?
What can be said, other than it's really fawked up:mad:
I'm sure some of the locals will soon spot some kids rollin on those Champions
LOPPY 03-12-2002, 11:55 AM Bob needs to make a claim asap. I don't know his status, but most businesses are required to carry some kind of blanket policy, at least General Liability coverage. This would be a Property claim, let's hope he has Property coverage. Have him call me if he has any questions. I'm in the Commercial Claims business.

borton 03-12-2002, 12:03 PM this sucks big time, and there are so many people that could have checked in here or that know about cal rocks and known that he would be there.
Scout Dude 03-12-2002, 12:05 PM That sucks ass...:mad3: :mad3: These bastards need to be caught...and they better hope that they get caught by the police or there probably won't be much left to identify.
Kelly,
Was that all that was taken? Any mention of a D60? (Please say no)

Joel, that is what Bob thought was weird too. They left the D60's alone. So they obviously picked out just what they wanted or needed.
But you know what gets me REALLY? Is that Bob pretty much tries to help everybody else and for him to get sh!t on is Bullsh!t!!!
Whitewater 03-12-2002, 01:23 PM The pricks that did it were probably too fukin stupid to know what was of real value. I'd be willing to bet that whoever did it was someone that had been to his shop before. I'll be keeping my eye out for any of that stuff down here as well as up there. I hope the pricks get caught and beaten into the ground.
The Rockslut 03-12-2002, 01:51 PM I just hope that one of those idiots approaches me to sell some of that stuff. I would tell them that I have a buddy that wants to buy it all. Take them to Roggy's shop and drop them off.
Wish there was something I could do to help.
Keep us updated.

Thx for the update...Like Rockslut said...I feel a little helpless.:(
SHERPA 03-12-2002, 03:47 PM While only meeting Bob on a few occasions, I would pity the
fool who did this if Bob caught him/them................
I hope he has insurance to cover the loss, and more than
likely, the theives either know when he's leaving out of
town for an extended trip (noticing loading trucks, equip,
camping type gear, etc) or the clown's might be reading
the board........ I would think most likely the casing of
the shop though......
THat bites........ Bob's a nice guy, and I sure wouldn't want
to get him upset myself.......
--Sherpa
As soon as possible, could someone with the identity of
the wheels/tires provide that info here, so everybody knows
what to look out for???? CHampion beadlocks aren't really
very common, especially new ones.... which style were they,
color of the lock rings, etc....
what brand/size/model tires were they?
tool names, types???
---I'll certainly look around the flea markets in san jose for
that stuff.....
Eight 03-12-2002, 04:11 PM the wheels are M/t Alcoa very similar if not same as this http://www.championwheel.com/jeep.jpg
the wheels were wheeled for a while then converted to beadlocks so the wheels may have some scratches but the bead locks are brand new(no rock rash)
15x12, 5 on 5.5
tires are 38.5 SXs I think??? brand new.
set of four
Eight 03-12-2002, 04:22 PM here is a pic of the tires wheels.

ironpig70 03-12-2002, 05:01 PM If ANYbody should know anything please please say something. Give Bob or the local Sheriff Dept a call. This has got to be stopped. [/B][/QUOTE]
if i find them i won't be calling the sheriff it will be the coroner:mad3: i hate thiefs
KeithF 03-12-2002, 07:26 PM I can’t believe what I‘m reading here. The sad part is that it’s probably someone who has been taken by there at one time or another by someone he knows because it’s not like his shop is in a well known location or is easily found by people who haven’t had work done on their rigs by Bob and associates – I really hope I’m wrong about this but this just reeks of foul play.
Brandon, Bob already has a PayPal acct. setup and I like the idea of contributing something to make up for the losses he’s incurring, at a minimum to cover the insurance deductibles assuming he's covered for such pathetic spineless bullshit.

Was thinking the same thing. Lots of lurkers here I bet, and with everyone posting where they will be it does make it easier. Maybe it's time to booby-trap the doors and windows.:skull:
Jeffh555 03-13-2002, 11:26 AM that fawking sucks, i hope someone sees those wheels, they sound pretty unique. and then they beat the shit out of whoever stole them, or at least get them arrested and put thier pic up here so someone else can kick thier ass.
i thaught that in these hard times for bob, i'd throw in a shameless plug, i ordered my shocks from him (Bilstien 5100s) and his customer service was impecable, not to mention the price was far lower than anyone else.
Jeff
LOS-YJ 03-13-2002, 05:54 PM That really sucks.... Just wondering if Bob's shop had any type of alarm or anything like that. The way they broke in they had to know the layout of the shop and that it had no security system to fuck with them... And they stole selective stuff that's weird, definetly someone who has been there before... Well that just fucking sucks I cant believe you guys in the west coast are having such trouble with 4x4 thefts that sucks, here in the eastcoast its like unheard of for 4x4 stuff getting stolen...Knock on wood.. But that just tells you that these fucks are out there preying on our 4x4 shit that we work so damn hard for. I HATE THESE MOTHER FUCKERS... Well hope they get caught. Its time for the the laser trigger .50 cal rifles in the shops, blow these fucker up.:mad3: :mad3: :mad3:
Toyota_Jim 03-13-2002, 07:14 PM Probably some eco nazi's. they go around to logging sites and vandalize the equipment. one guy was shot that got caught doing it about a year ago,

Serves them right. Fawkers used to put up fishing line across the LEGAL motorcycle trails where I used to live.

they use small steel wire or barb wire. They put it on private property about 6 months ago here and killed a little boy.
GABE THOMPSON 03-13-2002, 08:25 PM What really sucks is that Bob was busting his ass while he was getting fawked. I heard his 5 am wakeup call from Rich every morning so that he could get up and set up some amazing courses. He put together some shizz that was right for the classes and also very tough. I was very impressed and I hope he gets ahold of the fawking ass fawkers.
It was probley the Taliban!:)
Seriously That sucks. They probley didn't steal the 60's cause it's hard to lift one even with two people.
RoCkSkuLLz 03-14-2002, 09:14 AM that really sucks!!! there are two things I hate the most, 1 is stupid people and the other is thieves! I hope you guys figure out who did this!
ErikB 03-14-2002, 04:30 PM Any chance it was the same fawkers who robbed the other P-ville shop? That's the first place I'd look... :mad3: :mad2: :mad3: :mad2:
Eric Ruhl 03-14-2002, 11:22 PM Fawking thieves.... :mad3: :mad3: :mad3: Bob's a hell of a guy too, this SUCKS to hear about something like this happening. Hopefully his insurance won't fawk him, the bastards who did it will find out what "karma" means, and the he gets a better alarm system if he doesn't have one already. Can't seem to trust anyone these days :( You know how to reach me Bob, let me know if there's anything you need
If the person who did this is reading this post, know this.... you're a disgrace to humanity. May your conscience rot you from the inside out.... slowly, and painfully. I pity your pathetic soul :flipoff:
spwest2 03-15-2002, 08:19 AM ditto eric, fawking theives. I feel this is going to be a new trend in our sport though. with the influx of younger wheelers with minimal spare cash and the increase in the sports popularity and cost these folks will do what they need to do to be cool. I have seen several rigs in the demnver area that are afforded by some other means that actual cash that the 16 year old can get. case in point, I have a guy in my neighborhood that is just 16, bought a jeep cj7 and withing three months has every option you could ask for, curries, arbs, 37's beadlocks ect.. I know his dad and he has not put any cash for it, he actually was kinda suprised when i told him how much stuff costs. If i find that bastard stealing anything he will be put out to hang. shot on the spot if it is from my jeep.:mad3:
500 HORS 03-15-2002, 11:35 PM very bad deal here
Please pay attention to any hot deals
Please give some details on the PayPal idea, thnx.
Also, I think the booby trap ieda is a good one, but likely an illegal one, somethen about if you live in the hills and someone needed help or shelter they can breakin..
Maybe Loppy knows the limits you can "legally" go to to protect your liveliehood, sure wouldnt hurt to rig up some cameras...
'62FJ40 03-16-2002, 09:39 AM Here in Phx there was a recent case where someone tried to break into a shop(might have been an A.C. place). Climbed over chain link and razor wire only to encounter the rotweiller:eek:
Was a weekend so they didn't find his mangled corpse until Monday. Big investigation but owner was not charged with anything:flipoff2:

DOGS are legal booby traps... down here in S-America, EVERY shop has dogs (mostly rots, pitbulls or dobermans)... and there was a recent occurence a couple of months ago, where a thief was attacked by 3 rots in a shop and he left the shop horizontally and some 20lb lighter than he entered...
a friend of mine owns a 4x4 shop, and the break-ins stopped the minute he got 2 pitbulls (he mentions that still sometimes blood-traces can be found after a long weekend, but nothing gets stolen)
i guess its time to show them thieves that ANY trade has its risks. I personally have been broken into twice, and again, after buying a rottweiler things got very calm

SHERPA 03-17-2002, 06:24 AM Dogs are a good way to "secure" a shop or equipment yard. but,
a guy I know who ran a used equipment yard in Oakland said he
doesn't use dogs because the theives would either poisen them,
shoot them, or other means. Instead, he had a few guys that lived onsite, and these guys you would not want to piss-off. It's
what I heard..... He said that their yard had about 4-5 dogs at
different times, and all of them were killed by shooting......
--Sherpa
Oh, and the "booby-trap" idea................Bad, veeeeeeeeeeery
bad...
I remember a business that had occurred several night-time
break-ins..... so, the owner noticing the latest rash of break-ins
were occurring by someone entering the building by a sky-light in the roof. So the business-owner decided to put up some chain
link fencing accross the sky-light opening.... very next day he
came in, there was the chain link material laying on the floor.
So, he re-installed the chainlink more securely this time. and
added an extra "bonus" to it.... he hook-up a 220 line to it,
and grounded the window framing..............
Soooooooooooo, the next day, he came to his business, only
to smell a terrible burning smell......looked up, and noticed
"Mr Burglar" sitting in his new security-device..... dude was
dead as Julias Ceasar................
The shop owner was convicted of some sort of involuntary
manslaughter....... had to serve time for it.........
Dogs=good, bobby-trap=bad....
---
Mustard Dog 03-17-2002, 08:34 AM I believe that booby trap case was on 60 Minutes years ago. Did'nt it happen down in Florida:confused: It sure sucks that you can't booby trap your own property:( :D
liveaxle 03-17-2002, 11:59 AM Does anyone know if Mr. Roggy answers his phones still. I have been trying to get a hod of him to order parts, called a bunch left a lessage, no response. Is this normal for him?
Maybe someone here can answer my question, about how much does he charge for a set of Dana44 hysteer arms, low rise, tapered holes for TRE's, pretty simple ones.
:)
Big Rich 03-17-2002, 12:11 PM I just talked to Bob on his cell phone, he is on his way back from Farmington. He has been out of the shop for nearly 2 weeks, he sets the courses for CalROCS and was in Farmington for RCAA. Please give him a chance to get home to answer is messages. As far as cost of the hysteer arms, He'll have to answer that question personally.
Rich
BigDan 03-18-2002, 08:11 AM I'll keep my eyes open...I travel between Cameron Park and Pollock Pines every day. I am an avid reader of the Gold Panner so I'll let you know if I see or hear of anything....
P.S I'm sorry for the loss
