You mentioned in the long battle posts that you thought that newbies should use flux core when first using a MIG. Why?

I've taken a welding class, did stick, MIG, and Oxy/Acet. I understand that I want to watch the puddle and fuse the pieces together, not just lay a bead on top. I'm going to be getting a Ready Welder soon, and was planning on setting it up for shield gas, but wonder if that's a good choice. First job will be repairing a rusted frame.

Thanks for any info! :D

Two advantages of flux core:
1. Better penetration (IMPORTANT if you're using a 110 on something thick)
2. Can weld outdoors without wind blowing the shileding gas away. Important for trail repairs.
