hello i just got a set of yj springs and factory replacement main eye and shackle mounts for the springs. i want to install this with the shackles in the front. my plan was to cut off the samurai mounts and weld on the yj mounts. i havent been able to find any info on this though. all i can seem to find is where people use kits to do it. also do you have to extend the frame to keep the axles in the stock location? if so what is the best way to extend the frame?

Since the springs are longer, yes you need to move the spring mounts to keep the axle in the same place. How much you move it forward depends on the tires you are running and if you are going to keep the shackles forward or go shackle reversal. Here is a shot of my front end, with a 6.5" or so frame extension and the axle offset 2" forward of the centering pin.

how much wider did you have to make the frame to line up with the toyota axles?

You dont widen the frame for the toy axle swap... you inboard the spring perches on the axle. This gives you more flex and also saves u from having to modify the Zuk frame to accomidate the axles. -David-

I outboarded the springs whatever the difference between Zuk and Yota is, 3/8" as I recall. Inboarding the perches on the passenger side would be TIGHT with 2.5" wide springs. Since I was extending the frame and going s/r anyway, widening the spring mounts was cleaner and easier.

I like the new bumper :D
LiftedSuzuki101 got a picture of this? I can't understand how the front perches could be moved in on a toy front axle.

If you are going to cut off the zuk stuff anyway, moving the mounts out is easy. Look at the front of Tuskers rig, the inside of the front spring mount is almost at the outside of the frame. You just have to build a perch that sticks out. It will bethe same if you go with front or rear shackle, the only difference obviously would be the type of mount used. At the rear of the front spring, there is plenty of room on the frame pad to weld mounts on after you cut off the zuk stuff. If you can fab, you can do this easily.

Clay sorry I don't know this from experience as I only said what I have heard from others that have done this swap. Sorry -David-
Not that I was bagging on you or anything, just curious.
