This is what i did with the wonderful piece of steel MAD MAC made for me.(thank you again)
I went and drilled a hole threw the ACE stocks locking ring and countersunk it and drilled/tapped a hole in the "trunnion" for extra strength and also when all the screws are tightened it DOES NOT MOVE
http://img165.imageshack.us/img165/2320/dsc00025rk.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
located the comb i wanted and how much "trunnion" i wanted sticking out. I went and notched it to fit the rear trunnion to fit.
http://img165.imageshack.us/img165/1125/dsc00048yy.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
welded her up and ground smooth. I also added some triangulation between the "trunnions" for added oomf. i also drilled it all out to remove any unneeded steel and loose a bunch of wieght(pics not shown,i was lazy)
http://img165.imageshack.us/img165/5899/dsc00050rr.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
http://img165.imageshack.us/img165/8286/dsc00067pl.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
There was a gap between the dust cover and the trunnion so i added steel to fil the area. the finished "extension" is solid steel. you can also see the starting hole for a new 3rd screw :D

Did you rattle can the stock?

The new mount is SOLID. i could crack a skull or smash a door without hesitation or fear of breaking. The comb is now nice and natural and my cheek falls to the same spot every time.
I have long arms and the gun feels "right" for once. and Bev can collapse it down and it fits her well.
The stock also unscrews for ummm..."storage" ummm ya :D

Did you rattle can the stock?
nope, it has a hard anodized finish and left it as is. The only thing with the Baked on finish is the rifle(of course) the new rear trunnion, and the locking ring/sling loop because i drilled it out and had to make it black again

hey heres a thought, can i get a receiver to eject out the left side of the gun? im left handed, and im thinking this is gonna swat me in the forehead, like my springfield 30-30.

umm no :flipoff2:
The weapon would have to be ENTIRLY redesigned (unlike AR's you can get left handed)
The Ak's throw their rounds high and left almost strait up. i don't think it would be an issue. try someones
if it does become an issue i am pretty sure i could design a deflector that would work.

SKS's throw the fuckers like STRAIT UP :shaking: I am about to build a deflector just to put them to the side on mine

I find it funny that your "extension" is thicker material than the actual cover  :flipoff2:
As far as ejecting, yeah you pretty much don't have to worry about it. They tend to throw them directly out the side and a bit forward

Hey where is good place to buy a new barrel for a USP 45 so I can screw on a silencer?

I figured it would lead to a "Fuck this thin ass metal shit trying to weld it burn threw friggen pissed off throw the dam thing pick it up weld burn throw" session  so i just grabbed some 1/8 strap and welded it up. at the bottom its only like 1/8 thick extra. The first photo is deceiving :D
Nice work as usual!

Ebay there is a guy that sells 6 inch barrels all the time. thread it yourself :flipoff2: as for a pre-threaded barrel i have no clue

These are the products that made me design this:
ACE ltd. stock adapter.
http://www.aceltdusa.com/images04/adapters/RA6%20%20(PN)_med.jpg
Nice product but not as strong as i wanted. Its aluminum so i couldnt weld it to a steel block (did NOT feel like making a whole new trunnion out of aluminum) and with a hard hit i could probly shear it off those allen screws.
"typical" plastic AR to AK stock adapter:
http://www.blackjackbuffers.com/images/AKadapt.jpg
sorry but its umm..... plastic. I dont think any threaded area of a weapon should be plastic. And it looks funny :D
For most it would work fine, for me its something i would destroy in short order.
How about just buying one of these? (http://www.tapco.com/product_information.asp?number=STK060166&back=yes&dept=10&last=10)
Is it different?

because its plastic...all of it is plastic. the mount, the stock, the butt plate. everything but the locking pin and spring  :flipoff2:
Like i said those and the plastic adapters are "ok" and most people are quite happy with them. Then again most people dont design a stock mount to be able to withstand multiple blows to someones head either

Looks great Doc, shoot that thing yet? It looks like it will shoot great, nice straight back recoil almost like an AR, should help out with the muzzle rise when bumpfiring. :D

Nice work, obviously a helluva lot better than anything you could have bought. Question for ya since you're into modding guns. I've got a Mosin Nagant M44 with a scout scope mount it, love shooting it but hate the stock. Forend I'd like to widen out the base, float the barrel but the rear...bleh. I've got a thumbhole type stock from an AK variant and was thinking of grafting that on to the back. First thought would be to take some knurled aluminum rod and use that to anchor the two together. Then strip it all down and widen the forend, glass the whole thing. Ideas?

I would save the original wood stock and buy an aftermarket polymer one and bed it. first see what the aftermarket offers in terms of stocks.
I dont work in wood.. actualy i cant do wookworking so save my ass thats why 90% of what you see me work in is anything but wood  for bonding wood stocks you should be able to just use a good glue but i would ask one of the "wood guys" on here :D
oh and i HATE butthol...i mean Thumbhole stocks :flipoff2:

I had one of those synthetic stocks for another Mosin, sucked. Really cheap junk. It's not a true thumbhole stock, more like the Druganov style. I just prefer something that has more of a pistol grip position to it instead. I've got an extra M44 one laying around, might as well give it a go.

Nice looken mod to the gun...can you make me one :flipoff2:
While we are talking about AK's I have been having problems with mine. It goes click when it should go bang. It looks like the hammer strikes the bolt/firing pin at an angle (like the bolt is too short and the hammer is rotating too far). I have tried grinding a bit on the hammer to make it hit flat but that didn't seem to work. I think I need a new firing pin...maybe one a bit longer than the origional. Ever saw that problem? Know of a good place to get a firing pin (maybe a US and not a CHINA one?)?

That was a totally blind, tight, internal weldment you made there. It doesn't look like pro-TIG quality but it looks damned good  What did you use just a fawkin MIG gun? That's awesome.

yup its common and a few things can cause it
check to see if its hitting your cross bar. and see if the "flat" area of the cross bar is facing tward the fire control group. Use a pair of vicegrips in the recever to turn it.
other problems could be the hammer: what FCG are you using? US Made? brand or nationality?
and YES you can grind the back of the upper reciever/bolt carrier group to allow the hammer to hit :D you just have to smooth it out nice when done.

mig gun, flux core .35. slow speed so i can control the puddle better.
i WISH i was trained in and had a TIG, i would have so much less post welding crap to do and i could weld thinner metals

It happened with the stock stuff. I got a Tapco FCG and it did the same thing...so I returned it and got the adjustable Red Star Arms (made in USA)...same problem. It was actually that one that I ground down because I figured it would have the deepist heat treat. I'll have to try getting a new firing pin and grinding on the bolt some...stupid chineese POS :mad3: I wish I had the $$$ for an AR when clinton did the AWB. I would have to move to the US if I wanted one now.

use some gear marking compund or some white greas ands place it on the hammer (after sliding the bolt/carrier forward to lock) and see exactly where its hitting. If its hitting the bottom edge of the upper reciever and not the actual bolt then i would grind it. if its hitting the bolt edges but not the fireing pin i would pull the pin and look at it and see if its tweaked. a new pin can be got www.k-var.com www.tapco.com and a shitload of other places.

I don't think they had it when I got the trigger kit (and hammer spring and sheperds hook eliminator) or I would have got it then. It isn't the same as the other makes of AK's. I'm going to have to try that...but for now I have been messing with my new Savage 11FCNS in .308 :)
