I am replacing the transmission in a 95 YJ 2.5
The rebuit tranny came in today, the old transmission had two
studs press-fitted into the bellhousing.
The new tranny did not have the studs.
I have tried to remove the old studs but without a press or
heat they are not comming out.
I went to the local Jeep dealer and talked with some shop guys
and they had never seen a tranny crank sensor mounted on studs. All of the ones they have worked on had bolts.
Anyone know anything about this Just looking for information.
so I know my options.
Thanks

Is this a manual or auto? They apparently mount in different ways, but I assume auto otherwise you wouldn't have gotten a new bellhousing. Do you have pics? You'll need that 'install' paper for the CPS.

Where can I get that CPS install paper.

You get it with a new CPS, I'm not sure if you can get it seperately. Good time to change the CPS anyways.

you can get the tab at the dealer.
they keep them in stock for tranny work.
there are 2 types of CPS mountings.
if your sensor uses one bolt, then you need the paper tab.
if your sensor uses 2 bolts, then you need the special Mopar shouldered bolts that hold it in place, but do not require the paper tab.

It's a strange setup on my old one.
No one seems to have seen it before.
Insted of sholder bolts they used two
pressed in studs.
I think I'll need to buy the sholder bolt
setup for the new tranny.
If I can I'll get a pic later today.

is it possible someone pressed the studs in instead of buying replacement bolts?

No, I don't think so because this is the second tranny I've
put in this Wrangler in the last month.
The first replacement, was a used salvage yard tranny
that lasted 3 days. It also had the studs.
