WideJ 03-12-2002, 06:49 PM RESPECT THE 4 POPPERS
(just remember, if it wasn't for us, V8's wouldn't be cool...)
Don't be bashful, lets see some pics and hear some specs on some rigs that run the old 2.5L powerplant.
I'll start:
2.5L, ax5, np231 4:1
SOA w/3.5 in
full width rev cut 44 front, spooled, high steer, 4.88's
full width floater 60 rear (35 spline), detroit, 11" disc brakes, 4.88's
35x12.50 ssr's, spare with custom sidewall tear (cheap ass peices of garbage)
full cage
Alright, whose next...

aaronlosey 03-13-2002, 07:43 AM lets not forget some of the people who made it cool, and compete with a 30 up front :flipoff2: http://www.tricountygear.com/4Cyl.jpg
I don't suppose you have a larger pic of Jason's rig, do you??
Mr.RatBastard 03-13-2002, 01:38 PM That Jeep is HUGE

NE-RokToy 03-13-2002, 05:09 PM Umm do you really need a 60 rear with 4 popper and 35's ???
Josh 89XJ 03-13-2002, 07:29 PM I've got a lot of respect for you 4 poppers. Probably some of the most fun guys to wheel with too. Everywhere they go its at a minimum of 5k :flipoff2: Not to mention you get away with lighter axles too :D It still fawkin' amazes me that Jason competes with a D30, finishes up top....and doesn't break it!
Keep gettin' it.

Dude can't win for losin'. Before it was too weak now it's too strong. :flipoff2:
Here's me measuring for shocks in the front yard.

Good point overkill is much better then running a D35
4BANGERYJ 03-13-2002, 08:58 PM I would post a decent pic of mine wheeling but I'm always last and my club is usually done taking pics when I get there.:flipoff2: ;)

WideJ 03-13-2002, 11:08 PM Umm do you really need a 60 rear with 4 popper and 35's ???
First the axles get built, then the motor and tranny. I'm building for the future. To answer your question, no I don't need a 60 with a 4-banger and 35's. However, a vortec 4.3, sm420 and 38.5's might be more appropriate. Just give me some time.
For now, I'm just trying to blow up the ax-5. :nuke:
Military Jeeper 03-14-2002, 01:00 AM What type of Terrain do you wheel......I did a 44/60 swap in myh 4Runner and installed a brand new 22re with many upgrades to the engine and I can't climb hills even with 5.13's and F/R Lockers?
I need power and torque.........which the 22re lacks.
WideJ 03-14-2002, 01:24 PM Military Jeeper, I wheel on rocks, sand, loose sh!t, hill climbs, even mud (well, get stuck in mud) and the 4-banger keeps me bangin along just fine. It runs like a top! More power and torque would be nice, but I manage just fine w/what I got.
JEEP_TJ_FREAK 03-14-2002, 01:35 PM I'm on too.

all those fancy doodads and you didnt add dual cases??? Get some gears in that thing. Oh yeah if you have tires 35" or bigger you really need lower axle gears to just be stock.
CannonBall 03-14-2002, 07:53 PM I gotta say those 4 bangers kick ass. My friends little 2.5 in his TJ with 33's kicked my ass on the con this summer and my t-case blew up, I think that had something to do with it. But my buddy with 38's on a CJ broke and my friens 4 banger towed him from buck island to the springs, with the 4 banger it was cool.

Money should grow on trees.............
Welby 03-17-2002, 09:17 AM Here's my old '95 YJ. Nothing special, 2.5, 3.5" Superlift, 2" body lift, and 33's. Ran it for 6 years with no problems. Dog on the highway, that's my only real complaint with the motor.

redruM 03-18-2002, 08:05 AM not mine but it is a 4 banger
This is a good spot to put T-BONE's axle snapping 2.5 pic. :D
Weasel 03-18-2002, 08:59 AM Well mine's not running right now but I have one in my 84 XJ. It might be close to being wheelable at the end of this summer.
YJ4RoX 03-18-2002, 11:29 AM I dont mind my 4 banger, less weight+less power=less breakage.
Wild1...how about some specs?
Here is a pic of my POShttp://webpages.charter.net/jkranz/Jeep/photos/Jeremy4.JPG

he's got 5.13s man...only deeper gears he could get would be 5.89s or 5.38s. are you tellin me that the 22re can't turn 35s with 5.13s?!
Military Jeeper 03-18-2002, 07:49 PM It moves with 5.13's, just not great up hills.
