: Steering cut short

Ok here's the deal. I Have a front Rev cut 44 up front. The axle is 63" wide and I just put avalanche arms with 1.5 avalanche Dom tubing. The drag link is connected on top with the tie rod under the avalanche arm using one bolt so I used the hole closest to the bumper. The problem is I can't turn all the way on each side. I'm missing another half turn. Do I need a jb's 4x4 steering pitman arm which is longer. This is really making me mad.

Thanks guys

Well, you've got two options.

Longer pitman arm
Shorter steering arms

thought:
Is the drag link going to the forward-most hole? If not, can you swap the draglink and tie rod mounting points? That would effectively lengthen the steering arm.

another thought:
You're sure you're not bottoming out on the steering stops?

Can you use one of the holes closer to the ball joint? It will allow the steering to turn tighter.

I can't really put the draglink farther back due to clearance issues with the spring pad etc. The next option I could do is to put the draglink and tierod on top of the arm. But the reason I did it the way I did, was because of stress issues on the steering box since its stock.

You can also go with a Ford or FSJ pitman arm. I know the Ford is longer and heard the the FSJ is. Not sure about the clocking of the splines on either of them vs. the TJ.

I had placed my draglink on the furthest hole on the arm the first time. Steering was cut short. I moved it back about 1 inch and my steering is tight and like stock. It is amazing what that 1 inch can do.

could you trim some off the spring pads? I know there is enough meat there to trim at least a little. Also what extra stress is on the steering box if you put the tierod on the top? I personally woul put the draglink back one hole from where you have it and do what you have to to make it work.
