8.8 differential fluid ????
Hello I have a 8.8 out of an explorer and was wondering. How many quarts of differential fluid does it take?
Also does it need to have any friction modifier added to it? It came out of a 97 and has a factory locker in it with 4:10 gears.

fill untill it comes outa the fill hole and yes it needs the friction modifier in it :rolleyes: :D

Does the dealer sell the modiffier?

Buy four quarts, if it is not enough add more if it is too much don't add it all. :rolleyes: You can get the friction modfier at the dealer or just about any parts store. Without it you will have some poping noises come from the clutches. Doesn't really matter if you use the Ford goo or something else. The last time I used it was GM stuff.

I think what Paul also wanted to say is it does not matter, the Stock Ford Trash-loc never works, the sooner you burn it out the sooner you can get a locker back there
I would rather have an open diff then that Limited slip
