I am shopping around for some coilovers... and am just hoping to get a little information before i purchase.

I know they make single double and tripple rate kits for coilovers...

but most of the triple rates i have seen just have that puney little tensioner spring....

I was wondering if it is possible to make a true tripple rate if you had a large enuf coil and used 3 smaller springs.

like could you use an 18" coilover and use 3 12" springs? or 2 10" and a 16"? or like an 18" a 12 and a 6 ?

I would like the 18" of travel, but I am told that the 18" springs are very high spring rates and there isnt alot of variety in rates for them.

so i got wondering about using 3 smaller springs

does anyone know what spring rates are available in the 18" length in a 2.5" ID?

and does anyone know if you can buy just the spring spacer part that separates the 2 springs, then i could buy a dual rate kit and just add a second seperator..

has anyone done this or can they explain why it wouldnt work?

On a 14 it would be possible but difficult. The stiffest spring would need to be the longest to prevent the slider from hitting the bottom of the seal head and locking up the shock. At that point I think you would only see the 3rd rate in droop and it likely isn't worth the trouble.
