Got to do my first 6 hours of seat time in the Unimog I've been restoring. What a truck and a hoot to drive! Here's a couple of pics, yeah, I know they're almost driveway shots, but hey, I just got it done!

man, you're gonna gag when you hear this, but took the truck in trade for labor on another rig last year. It looked pretty bad then, but was solid and would run. Since getting it, it's been repainted, new bed floor, new gas tanks and fuel lines, elec. fuel pump added, winch added, etc.... still less than $6500 in the truck. I think my buddy and I are going to go to Germany and see about getting 4 more to fix up and sell.

i don't know how close to being done that is, but you may want to consider putting some weight over the back end. 404 mogs perform MUCH better when they're closer to 50/50 weight distribution.

Ya can't argue with a 4x4 that will take 42.....STOCK!
I wish I had $5k. There is a pretty clean and relativly rust free 404 for sale near me. I think the only real problem it has is the soft top has seen better days and it might need tires soon.
I know the guy that now owns this one.

that is a 406 (maybe 416, i can't tell the wheelbase from that angle). Good luck finding any diesel mogs for under 15 grand. If you do they're not worth buying cuz they'll take 5 grand of work. Check out a thread i started a while ago about unimogs for lots of good info. just search for unimog.

I've seen three 406's locally for between $9000 and $12000CDN. All were in real nice condition. Real tempting to say the least.

Yo Grim,

Isn't that Sean Philyaw's Silver Streak? I thought he sold it. It is/was one bad machine. I got to watch him in the Ramsey Challenge up at the Badlands park in IN last fall. Spanked everything in the mud run. Awesome truck and a good guy.

Yeah it was his. He sold to Greg Cordell. Greg is somewhat known for putting Hummers on their side. The boy is hard on equipement LOL.
This thing is so sweet! it has that but fron PTO winch and it has an electric behind the cab that can go straight out the back or up through a pully on the bed roll bar so it can pull the tuck back on it's wheels or be used on EXTREME off camber stuff to keep it on it's wheels.
Greg is giddy as a school girl with the thing. He's driving it all time for the stares around Cartersville GA. LOL. Worst part is Greg slapped his compnay name on the side and is writing the damn thing off on his taxes. He deals in commercial real estate. So his justification is for getting cliantes out onto undeveloped land lol.
Sean is trying to talk Greg into sending it back to europe and running the Croatia Challange deal.
