Well I am glad to finally got my much needed 4.10 Landcruiser third member (thanks Wes). I have a really stupid question to ask but I figure better stupid than sorry. The diff was packed in a box full of packing peanuts and I spent about 20 mins trying to pick the packing peanuts out of the diff. There are some packing peanuts that are stuck in the most unusual places like the pinion bearing oil galley. Would these packing peanuts be detrimental to my diff or is it install the diff and the peanuts will eventually come out? I would like to know if these packing peanuts could lead to the future failure of my my "new" used diff?

Personally, if it's me, I would not worry about it.
The peanuts is a plastic and will not melt or burn. It might get ground eventually to tiny pieces and will remain suspended in the oil.
Replace your oil every 3000 miles! Use a fine strainer and see if you can collect some of the large chunck peanuts.
Have fun.:p
I think I would fish out all that I could reach with screwdrivers, wire hooks, whatever. Then I would spray carburetor cleaner into the areas I couldn't get to. The foam will disappear fast! I would then rinse it out with some ATF to remover any residual stuff and let it drain out.
We used ATF in a squirt bottle to rinse out the rear housing after blowing up a ring gear. Worked real good to get all (most) of the fine debris washed to where we could wipe it out of the housing.

This makes good sense due to the fact that ATF is a detergent! Cleans up spils on hard floors great too!!!!!!
