I heard a rummer that the AMC tranny bolt pattern is the same as the buick, olds and pontiac.
Is this true or is someone feeding me a line of BS?

Some of the Waggoneers and J-trucks in the late 60's used the TH-400 with an adapter to mate it to the AMC engine.. They also used the Buick 350 in the same applications..
