move the steering box forward and extend the steering shaft

the steering box will need to be forward of the axel unless you get a set of high steer arms that allow you to move the steering to the back of the axel then you just have to find a steering box that can be adapted to the steering, and even vith that the box will have to come forward

why?

think about it if your steering box is in the stock position and your axel has been moved forward 20" your drag link will have to go over your axel,
unless you go to full hydro steering

Many Zuk owners outboard their boxes. Here is a fine example of using an FJ60 box outboarded on a Zuk: http://bbs.zuwharrie.com/content/topic,19902.0.html

your easiest solution by far is going to be going with full hydro steering im in the process right now i too have put full widths and moved my front axle forward and my rear axle back but i really guess i dont understand why you would feel the need to move the front axle so far forward but hey its your zuk do what you want anyways i have pics but cant post em if someone would i would be glad to show you my setup.

build a cage around the box so you dont rip the thing off and if you went through 10 of them

I have an outboard steering box on my Sammi... it works great. Its out of a 90's model 4wd 4runner. It all depends on what you intend on doing with your Samurai on how you should go with your steering set up. If you don't want to drive it on the road a lot... then go full hydro. If you want to drive it on the road like I do mine... then go with a PS setup. I've never damaged my steering box, but it is protected by my bumper... and the box is somewhat flat, so it doesn't stick out for every little thing to hit it.

Why not run a Scout box?

I hear ya Bro...

As for steering, Full Hydro will be less headaches, but a bit more $$$, outboading the box is a better (cheeper) choice.
