: R85/15 "Official size"?

Anyone know what the "official" height and width of an R85/15 tire is? Or if there is one. Here's the reason, my club has a rule 36" tires max - as stated on sidewall. As we know, 36" tires don't measure 36" but that's the rule.

The only height info I can find on the web says that the R85 buckshot mudder is 37" - now I measured one, and I'd say more like 36 - 36.5

Thanks

The 36x12.60 swamper is really somewhere between 35 and 35.5" tall. A 38x12.50 TSL is pretty close to 36" true height. (Used to be sold with 37/13 stamped on the sidewall.)

My P78 buckshots were the same height as a 33x12.50 MT/R (7" wheel vs. 8" wheel) off of the vehicle. A Q78 is in the 35-36" area, usually pretty close to 35.5" ture height. I'm pretty sure the R is the 38" equivalent.

What kind of club has a tire size reg? Is this for a competition of some kind, I hope?

Swamper 36x12.5x15 radials are actually 36.2. I think the radials run taller than their bias tires.

Our club has a couple of rules designed to keep folks out. We're in MN where you don't need to get much bigger than a 36 on a jeep sized vehicle - some may disagree, we have had discussions about dropping the rule and just keeping a wheelbase and GWVR rule. At the time the regs were written we only had a couple folks that big, now we've got 6 or 7 at that size. The other reason for it along with a wheelbase rule was to keep out full sized trucks - basically because they don't fit on most of the trails we use, and we couldn't extract them decently with most of our trail rigs. There are 3 or 4 other clubs locally that do take the big stuff.
