Any point to these? I have bent the housing on both my front and rear 10bolt now. Upgradeing to 1ton axles would be nice but I have no power and less money, what if I just put those stiffeners on? Should I buy them or make my own if i do? Do they just snap the the shafts or nuckles off instead?

p.s. Anybody got a cheap 10bolt housing or complete axle in the sothern Cali area?

Try this guy............Steve Frisbie http://mo-offroad.com/ - he makes ABOVE the axle trusses...............

Anything below it will take away ground clearance and be a catch point for anything and everything.

14BFF are about $100 - the issue is new wheels.

You should be able to find 10 bolt axles by the dozens..........literally...............for cheap. Real cheap.

Ground clearence is not as big an issue since I run mud only. I dont know how much strength those braces would add either. I think that by the time the housing bent far enough to get good resistance from the truss it would be too late.

I agree with BlazzinOR, I had a ten bolt with a Con Ferr under axle axle truss and it was a waste of money, it caught on everything on the trail and drags in the mud. Swap to a 14 bolt, if you can find one with the same gear ratio it'll probably be cheaper than buying the truss and you'll never bend it, and you'll have a hard time breakin it.

You would be surprised at how much that add's. The rock ring suports the center with the pinion snout clamp. Then the out rigers tie in right at the spring purch. My guess is that truss will strenghten up the housing by 75%. The rest of them crappy truss's...maybe 20% gain till you whack them on the first rock.

I was thinking of cutting a "T" beam to the shape of the diff/axle housing and welding it on top of the housing. I would make the beam out of 3/8ths plate metal I can get a hold of. I have the use of a plasma cutter for the cut-out. I would add aditional supports/surface area and height near the spring perches which would replace the 6inch blocks I have there now. This would cost me nothing, but is it a bad idea? What effect would welding have on the axle housing? It would probably ruin the axle by warping the diff housing or axle tube near the bearings, right?

Maybe I am just too eagre to melt shit with my new welding capabilities, yeah thats got to be it.
