: HELP. Convert Ford HP D60 front to 5/6 lug??

Hi all: Did a search on this topic and didn't come up with much.

I'm getting ready to start cutting and building my Ford front D60. Here's my question (and don't ask me why ... yet): Can I convert it from eight lug to either 6 on 5.5 or 5 on 5.5?

If yes, can someone provide an outline of what I'd need to do to accomplish that mission?

Thanks very much in advance for any info (or links to a similar topic that I didn't find in my search).

Dynarape has a kit for ~$1k, but you need the Chevy knuckles & spindles.

You will need to change out the brakes rotors, backing plates, calipers, and caliper supports. Then buy or make new supports, pick up some 1/2 ton rotors and chevy calipers. Weld up the holes in the hub's, machine it down to fit the wheel center of a 5 lug wheel and reserfice the wheel flage after the welding. Then redrill the pattern.

Everyone: Thanks for your input; most helpful. I read Knorr's article on bc4x4, so now I know it can be done. The only problem was that tech report wasn't quite as detailed as I'd hoped in the specific area of changing the lug pattern (i.e., exactly how he machined the hubs, exactly what brake parts were used, etc.). Still, it's a good resource.

Dean: Thanks much for your insight, too. I planned on changing out those parts anyway and can make the needed supports.

Anyone know of other tech reports similar to Knorr's out there? Thanks again.
