Its not hardcore "Gettin It" but this was a pretty steep hillclimb where I had quite a bit of tire liftage, this doesnt show barely any but its the best shot we had from our TSF trip for this category. Infront of me is a pretty big rut that was a doozy lol. Wish I had the cable to get our movie from the trip onto my comp... stupid sister had to lose it :shaking: :flipoff2: -David-

Man, that last one must have been what mine looked like over labor day weekend. I was in the Nevada desert just before sundown. We were on the shady side of the mountain, and I was trying to catch up to my buddy who was a hill ahead of me. I was doing 25-30 mph and didn't see a whoop in time. I got on the brakes and skidded over it and stuffed the front tires on the upside of the dip behind it stopping us instantly. It bent my springs very bad. I have YJs with the shackle up front. It shoved the axle up and back, bending a large upward arch in the rear half of the spring. Just to give you an idea of how far, the springs hit the bottom of the frame! At rest the springs were only about 3 inches away from the frame where they had been about 7" or 8". The front axle rotated up at the pinion so the driveshaft hit and bent the bolt in crossmember under the trans, pushing it and the trans up 3 inches breaking the trans mount. We took the springs off, took the packs apart and hammered each of the leaves straight. I had to straighten the crossmember and drill and through bolt the trans mount. Then proceeded to go for a 9 hour trip through the desert the next day. These things'll take a lick'n.
Travis..

The hood and grill are from different vehicles, but most of those parts where in the Samurai at one point in time. The pedals, steering shaft and some of the wire harness is still original to the Samurai.

It's still my Samurai though.. That is what I told the cops the other day when they wanted to impound it after a short drive in the neighborhood. :D

Jeez, OK, but IIRC even the pedals are heavily modified, right? I suppose its good for us that you consider yourself a Samurai owner so that we can benefit from your great tech instead of the Mitsubishi/Toy/Comp/etc. forums.

Wayne, It is working out great. Nice job! It fit fine and is extremely quite. The extra 3 or so gallons doesn't hurt either. I got my axle moved back 5 more inchesd and can probably go another inch or two if I want. That will require sheet metal mods similar to what you did and lengthening of the DS. Anyway, it is amazing what 5" of wb in the rear will do.

Heres is my Suzuki LJ20V getting it in the backyard. Thats my stock FJ55 with stock tires. We just bought the LJ20V so it needs a lot of work. The rear rof section needs to be welded back on as the PO cut it off. And it needs a complete new suspension and interior. This is an 1971 with a b-date of July 1971. 2nd oldest known LJ20V in North America.
