Swapping to leaf springs in the front is fairly common on mid 80's early 90's Broncos, but usually to put in a Dana 60 A Dana 44 SAS would still be better then the TTB for articulation though. Problem with '78/'79 Bronco's is the steering box.. you'd need quite a bit of lift to clear the pitman arm. In '80 and after the widened the frame, and moved the steering box inboard the frame.. thus making it a bit easier to put on leaf springs if you want.

Check out http://www.bigbroncos.com and sign up on the mailing list.. quite a few people have done SAS to their's and a lot have gone to leaf springs.

A good way to do this, if you have a 250 high boy laying around. Is to cut the front mounts off the frame. They are just rivited on. Bolt/weld onto your frame and make shackle hanges in the rear.

My friend has done this, but it was to a 79 bronco. Every one else I know has gone with a coil setup.
