i'm looking into shackle flipping my 80 chev 1/2t, and its got 4'' blocks in the rear, which i want to get rid of. I'm not sure which company to go with, any tips of reasons why I should lean towards a certain pair.

I'm leaning towards the HD DIY4x4 because they look stout, but as do the ORD's...

and yes, i did search, if its a repost my bad.

ord has been making them forever, sky makes a real good product too. i dont know who's cheapest, but i'm sure they're all about the same.

the DIY kit is more expensive but its worth it to me when i know im going to beat on it and not have any worries about anything back there. plus you can get rid of the stock shackles

ORD shackle has worked for me. Easy install, and you can fit 1/2" bolts if you drill out your frame a bit. The kit comes with 7/16".

Anyhow, fairly easy install, which is dependent on your gas tank configuration and truck. I have installed the shackle flip on three different trucks, and twice had to drop the tank.

Also, I guess ORD has a new rear shackle they are working on (see current Petersens).

I did look at the DIY, which also looked good.

I really like the DIY4X shackle flip because you can make your own shackles to the length you need to fine tune the ride height, and making them a bit longer than the (weak) stock shackles will help to smooth the ride a bit. The DIY4X kit also comes with backing plates.

Out of the 3 that you listed the 2 most used are the ORD and the DIY.. Both have a good reputation for durability and customer service so it's kind of a toss up on which way you want to go..

If you do a search over at Coloradok5 you will find a lot of shackle flip topics that will let you see pics and feed back on both..

I chose the Sky shackle flip. At the time it was fairly new to the market and the DIY4X version hadn't been released.......even if it had there is still a good chance I would have gotten the Sky.

Even at regular price the Sky flip was much cheaper than the ORD version, and plus I found it on sale for $105 (ORD version was I believe $185). The one nice thing about the Sky is that it comes with two shackle locations, so if you ever do something like 56" rear springs you don't have to drop the tank and swap the brackets around.......just unbolt the stock springs and bolt the longer ones back in on the further back hole. The Sky version also seems pretty stout.

I like the design of the DIY version because of the different shackle design. I would chose it over the ORD version because of this feature and that they are comparatively priced. However I think the Sky version has the most bang for the buck.

If your going to spend that cash get the DIY Kit ... as mentioned you have a much wider varierty of shackle options.

The best bang for your buck is to get a set of spring hangers from the front of the rear spring and bolt them in the back

I have sold and installed many of the sky flips. Price, quality, and strength are all there. The second hole is a real time saver and not offered by the others listed. Tig welded construction is another plus on the sky side. Look for a johnny Joint version of the sky flip in the near future.

one more vote for Sky, when I went to 56's in the rear I relized why they had two shackle holes for. Nice welds and stout piece. Cannot beat the price. I got mine on sale for $100 bucks.

I run the ORD and have had it on two diffrent rigs now. You can change the shackle angle a little if you reverse sides.

I run the DIY flip because I like not having to use the stock-style shackles.

I'm very happy with it. It's stout as sh*t, looks good and is very unique, and Kert's customer service is awesome.

1 vote for DIY here.

Both companys make good stuff. Kert has a very stout unit and I have dealt with him, great guy. ORD, I have never heard of anyone having problems with their hangers either, I run ORD stuff as well and they have always been very helpfull when I call. I also have SKY products and have to say I like their stuff. I didnt have any prob with these guys either. Since I have dealt with all these guys listed and wouldnt think twice about ordering from any of them again I would pick the less expensive of the three.

All are great companies with great products. I've dealt with Kert at DIY4x on numerous occasions and he definately gives you top notch service!!! And his products are beyond excellent quality. Plus I like his design for the shackle. His prices are cheaper than ORD even if you buy the flip with his shackles. Kert adn DIY4x definately would get my money and will when the time comes for me to do a flip.
