I'm coming down for the annual Rubithon event and will be staying in Rescue, fairly close to Placerville I think, and need to know how long it takes to get from there up to the Ice House Resort. The time needs to be fairly certain because I need to be able to make it to the staging of the run by 7am. I ask the miles cause I need to know how much extra gas to take up to the staging area.
Oh yah, this will be driving time in my FJ40-
Chevy 350,37"Boggers,Sm420, loaded full of crap.

Joey: I couldnt tell you the mileage, but I agree with Dustin that it takes an hour from Placerville to get to the Loon Lake staging area. Ice House road is about 25 miles - it is narrow and windy, and steep in the early stages. You can "top off" at Ice House Resort or Robbs which are just before you turn off Ice House road. Gas is expensive there, so make sure you are only topping off; fill up in Pville or Pollock Pines before you get to Ice House. Most of all - Have Fun! Which run are you on? KK aka Andy
I did the drive last year but in a regular vehicle without any real time line. So about an hour huh?
I put in for the Thursday Ice House run and should be on it, but really have no idea on when they are going to send verification that I got the run I wanted.
Last year my wife and I left everybody at the Loon Lake staging area and went around to the other side. After some slight problems we found a Jeep owner that was the nicest guy to take us into the Springs for the camping, raffle, and bbq. His name is Bill Lawson and he works at the Homewood Mountain Ski lift area. He was so nice he took the two of us with all our crap in on Friday at 3pm knowing that he was going to come into a large group of Toyota folk. That decided for me that I would never again give any Jeep owners any real crap other than playing around.

I read the question so I'll give an answer to IT.! from p'ville to pollock is 20 min. maybe 25 in traffic. last reasonable gas is pollock, once you hit icehouse you're looking @ $2+/gal. safeway is here too. (got munchies?!) from pollock to the bottom of icehouse is roughly 12 to 15 minutes, depending on traffic. so I'd allow 40ish minutes from p'ville to icehouse. from the bottom of icehouse it is 32 miles to loon lake. I drive that road alot and can make it in 30 minutes. 45 is probably a better bet- maybe more in a loaded trail rig. have fun!
