Hey all,
Just need some help, was looking all afternoon, and I couldn't find what I was looking for. Hopefully someone here can help...
Is there a tcase out there that will suit my needs? What I want is a divorced case, with both outputs offset (like a q-track). But I'm also going to need it to survive mounted at about 70degrees (in other words outputs almost pointed straight down).
I know rockwell makes one, but I dont need that much BEEF! Or cost!
I thought I remembered that the old m715s used a case like that, but I couldn't seem to find much info on them...
Help?

A rover LT230 is strong and offset but not devorced. I plan on ditching my modle 18 and going to one of these.

I've seen kits to make a Model 20 a divorced unit. These same kits might work for a model 18 as well. However, I dunno about that kind of angle though.

In theory, one could create a divorced case out of any tcase... I've seen it done once to a landrover case, just used the back end of the transmission (and its seal) to seal up the tcase.
My biggest concern is really with the angle I want to run it at. I just can't see most tcases splashing enough oil up into the input side of the tcase to keep everything lubed... What about running some kind of oil additive?

Something like Power Punch. It is good at climbing up. I think that a t-case like the 230 or 18 that runs the intermediate gear all the time is the way to go because it will fling the oil. You might need to raise the fill port and then run a large dia. breather hose so that it doesn't get plugged with oil so easy. Make sure the breather hose never dips to make a P-trap or it will be a problem.

I think an LT230 could hack it, I would be sure to get one with the cross drilled input and then add the oiling place as well change the fill level for the oil if you are planning on clocking it thatn much.
Slap in a part time conversion and you will have a real hard time breaking it. The gears are HUGE. Makes you wonder what rover was smoking when they designed their manual trannies.
While I have not done it, I know a couple people who have set LT230s up divorced. Try posting on the rover board and ask.

The old Dodges used an NP200 that had both outputs offset to the right and was divorced.... as For oiling you might try something like race cars use for a cooler for their rear axles Just leave the cooler off and put the return line back in the top so that it will drain the oil on top of the gears..

Come to realize I'm not going to be able to make my jeep a daily driver, and a GOOD 4wheeler at the same time... So I'm getting a tube bender, spending a lot more time welding at work (Scary I can weld overhead/vertically better than horizontally) Thinking right now a 4 seater tube chassis looking similar to the ford ex concept.
But the best part of the plan is to have the bottom pretty much flat (and mostly covered w/ probably aluminum) with the exception of the tcase output/driveshafts. and suspension links...
Thats the plan anyway...
