I use a warn 8000, and if you actually use it, the stock alt will :barf:

I wouldn't get less than a 8000lb., Warn is worth the money.

i have a buddy running a 6k warn on his and it works great on the sami. his weighs quite a bit more than a stocker too because of his added length and d44's. i personally would suguest atleast an 8k though. you just never know one day you might decide to build a heep, tlc, or something else that is a bit heavier. if so then your winch will be up to the task. just my op.

Your not going to need it for your Zuk, it's for all the Jeeps your going to have to pull out... Come Awnn!

Those fawking Jeeps are Heavy, better go with a 8000lb.:flipoff2:

Not sure, start with an Optima though. I also run a 8000, however I also use a Yellow Top.

nope that doesn't work. 2 weeks ago in clayton i rolled my jeep and i tried to winch to my buddys sami to right myself and needless to say it didn't work! the sami was just too light. there was a guy there with 2 1/2tons under a toyota running 48" military tires, v8, 2 203's, and a 205 behind those......now that was heavy enough!

The Warn 6k is virtually the same thing as the Warn 8k models (weight and size), so if it'll fit you might as well get the extra capacity. When I was forced to move my steering box forward I ate into the space I allocated for the winch so I looked at the short drum models available. The Warn 6k SDP only has 50ft of cable, the Ramsey 5k short drum winch has 80 ft, I went with the Ramsey.

I have done several pulls since then, the first real one on Lower Morningstar and the winch worked awesome. It was a very steep climb and I pretty much took the rig out of gear and did a dead pull up the face. Last weekend I had to pull myself all the way up the chute on Armageddon after I broke my "beefy" rear driveshaft. I'd guess the total pull to get me to the top was 100-150 ft (with cable repositioning). Again the thing pulled perfectly. One of the guys battery was dead (alt not charging) so I even did some pulls with a battery that had only charged for an hour or so with no problems. The last workout of the weekend was during the recovery of Jacks Toyota from Anaconda. I was in front of him so we used my winch to lift his front axle out of the hole while Zags was used to pull on the cage. We did a lot of pulling and I could never see any signs of my battery/alternator giving out. My one complaint would be that due to the low gearing of this winch, it is very slow. With a 94:1 crawl ratio I can easily overrun the cable on a climb so it takes a little clutch work to do a smooth pull. The Warn M8000's are noticeably faster so if your not planning on DEEP gearing that would be a better choice. The Short drum models are also about 25lbs lighter and draw a little less current than the 8k models (but still a lot). All that being said I still would have put an 8k on if I had the room.

Warn 8K all the way! I'm still running a stock alt, but I've got a dual battery setup (850CCA for the winch) and isolator. Also, I'm EFI so I got the 'big' alt :). My winch got quite a work out this weekend, and everything worked perfectly. However, my button finger is kinda sore... :D

Oh and High5, we pulled a Suburban over a large hole half way up Ho Chi Mihn with a Samurai. We strapped the back of it to a LARGE tree!!! :D His Warn 8K was really moaning.... :)

On second thought, Warn 9500HS! Now that's the ticket. :rasta:

I once needed to pull out a 76 jeep fullsize chero w/36 swampers and an olds 455BB out of some thick mud. After dragging my truck to him twice, I strapped to a tree and lifted my truck off the ground, suspended between tree and jeep. That finally got him out though...:)

8274 I know they are more expensive but look for a used one. they last forever and you can get replacement parts. that and they haul ass, especially pullin on a sami
