Anybody used anything different? Likes/Dislikes/Problems?

Must be able to measure distances from 1M to 60M with an accuracy of +/- 1.5mm. Size and durability are also high on the selection criteria. Price of up to ~$750US would be acceptable.

We use a Bosch one at work. Works fine as far as I'm concerned. Use it for applications where +-10mm is plenty accurate.

I would imagine getting +- 1.5mm would be difficult mostlybecause of aligning issues. Where to point the dot and keeping it steady.

Just today measyred up the house with barn we are looking at and the dot was very difficult to see at 40m distance outside.

A place I used to work for had an older Leica Disto. I don't know the model, except to say that it was older than what is currently on their site.

Thoroughly bad ass. It's not completely fool-proof... you have to pay attention to what the laser is striking (angles, glancing off stuff in the foreground, etc) so you don't get false results. But the handful of times I used it, it was great.

It would be used on the inside of straight runs of pipe so false results, scatter and alignment issues would not be a problem.
