Is it? I am thinking about buying some stuff from them. Their prices seem lower than the other companies.

Well I've never had a problem with RRO. I recommend them.

I also recommend Trail Tough, AAPA, Roadless Gear, Petroworks, Wheeler's Off-Road, Silver Bullet, and Mild to Wild. I shop from whomever has the particular product I want. There are only two companies I won't buy from, based on personal experience, but people seem to get in trouble if they say anything bad about either company, so I'll keep quiet.

It is if you don't mind waiting 6 months to a year to get the parts you buy from them! Just my $02!

Yea,Some times you have to wait for stuff, but when you recive you product has it not always been quality built:question: I hear a lot of people bad mouth Glenn, but I never hear anything about his products breaking on the trail or even looking bad for that matter. I buy RRO, Trail Tough,Roadless Gear,Petroworks. Some ship faster than others but the products from these vendors have not failed on me yet. Just my .02:D

I have not done any business with Glenn, but several of my friends have, and vowed not to deal with him further.

One went so far as to tell me if I see Glenn on my trip to Moab, to punch him in the mouth for him - it took Months to get his cage that was "in stock" at the time of his order....

After dealing with Tim and his months of delays, and not answering the phone, and not returning calls, and doing sorry work with sorry materials...I wouldn't hold him on a pedestal either. He is however a nice person.

i have been up to glenn's shop and i have chatted with him and examined his products closely. i cannot deny that his customer service could use a shot in the arm, but he makes a solid product. plain and simple. i have several local buddies that are not as web savy as us all and as soon as they found glenn, they will never leave his customer base. personally, i can fabricate most everything that i need so i dont do a lot of shopping about.

My biggest gripe with RRO is Glenn's personal way of bashing other vendors when he reply's to someone's bulletin board post concerning a technical question. Most unprofessional

i have a buddy who spazzes out at every store he thinks did him wrong for the most obscure reasons, and vows "never to darken their doorways again."
since all those stores are the ones he sought out to get specialized stuff from in the first place, his options at this point are so limited, that he keeps trying to get ME to "can you just pick up (this or that) for me if you happen to be going downtown" etc. etc., full well knowing that the only places to get the stuff that he wants, can only come from the places he "boycotts" :rasta:
if a light turns red when he's driving, he gets pissed and thinks the "light shouldn't be set on this cycle for this time of the day"
"why doesn't the store have MY favorite brand of beer at the front of the cooler, they make you dig through to the back to get at it" etc.etc.
fawk.
i really don't think that anyone who sells stuff is perfect, anymore than buyers are.
anything that you have to purchase automatically makes you dependant on someone else's foibles/quirks/bad day/hangover and so on. the human condition. pilot error.
get stiffed by a winch company? think of the hassle and impracticality it would be to make one!
buy a used one? back to dealing with someone who has something you don't, and even less accountability.
i know builders who are masters at what they do. they suck at people skills.
geniuses that are so crappy at trying to get someone to learn/understand what they are talking about, that their knowledge is virtually worthless, because others get frustrated at their arrogance, and all their smarts do no good.
you are always gonna find people who had a poor dealing with somebody, sooner or later.
i may be naive, but i don't believe that most of these guys are the Devil incarnate, rubbing their hands greedily, joyous at the thought of screwing yet another buyer by holding up the delivery date/losing the part/trying to save on overhead to make the rent etc. CAVEAT EMPTOR!:p

UZI, true, but... How about stealing ideas and marketing them as your own? How about making deals knowing that somebody's vacation plans hinge on you coming thru, then you flake, "something else came up"...How about stating that you will buy something that some one has for sale, causing them to turn away other buyers...Then disappearing? I KNOW Glenn has done all these things, to me and others....:flipoff: RRO, and :flipoff: Summit and, :flipoff: Glenn...

i bought my 4:16 gears from calmini just because i liked their idea of a solid billet design and i got them in like 4 days. good product and fast service. i ordered a front diff from brent at trailtough and it was here is about the same time with cool stickers and all!! i cant say that i have "ordered" from RRO, i bought a carb vent tube from them when i was up there but that was about it. i also called dave at AAPA and he was very helpful in telliing me the differences between his sumo drivelines and i plan on ordering from him. i am not a brand loyalty kind of guy. if someone else can get it to me i dont care where it comes from as long as it works. i think brand loyalty is, for the most part, a thing of the past. business is so competetive now that you cant say for sure if one is better than the other, you know the ford, chevy, dodge debate that will continue for another 50 years. you have no conclusive evidence as to what is better than the other overall. that is why i subscribe to so many lists that have to do with this hobby. if i see that someone had success with a particular product, you better believe that i am going to take notice and do my own investigation. that is what these board are for. i just want to thank you all for your input on these boards, your collective knowledge is invaluable to me in my quest for succes on america's trails.

thank you,

Newbie or not VERY WELL SAID. I dont believe anyone here is brand or persay company loyal to an extent. If company A has the same part as Company B and you have done your research and no what you want order from whom ever you like but I believe the Bottom line is service. Parts are very competitively priced now a days so the only thing a seller has to win there customer is a solid Knowledge of what they are selling and the man power to back it up. If there promises lie on false pretences and they think there the only one out their. They are very wrong in there thought process I't probably takes $100. to get a customer $200. to keep him and one small scwewing to lose 20 new customers. But thats just My o2 :smokin:

I bought Springs from Glenn a couple years ago.
They sagged from day one.... Get what ya pay for I guess.

He did come trough for me in a bind with a locker I needed.
The company I originally ordered from sent only the pin wrapped nicely in the locker set box. I called glenn and recieved a set in 2 days.

THe guys at Petroworks are always really polite. BUT...
Now I wanted one of there cages once and when I called to order I was told it would be a couple days til they were in stock and they would call me when they came in... I guess they never came in! :flipoff2:( i built my own)

I bought the Calmini TC gears set and it took forever...
They also told me they would send me a catalog and I never got it. I stopped by on day while traveling the length of the sate on business... They gave me a quick tour of their shop. But still no catalog.... :flipoff2:

My point is.
All company's out there have there good sides and not so good sides. Most are all Sami enthusiests like us. They haven't lost my business for life because they make human mistakes.
Of course when I am in a good mood right now :p

I'm a relative newbie to this tech board just soaking up some info before I get my sammi but I have seen this happen a number of times myself and find it disturbing. Your product and service will stand for itself...theres no need to go bash competitors on a bulletin board...I think it's tacky

hmmm...yea the 1/4" point is well taken. I was thinking of some of the sites that have the kits for the YJ conversion. I am probably having a friend help me with a lot of fabbing but will be buying spring pads from somewhere.

So guys....does the 1/4" make a difference? And what is a decent pad and what are ones to avoid? (if any)

I have not bought a whole lot of stuff but I have recently purchased a set of 4.16 gears ,mighty kong t/c mount and the YJ conversion with the missing links f/r from "Trail Tough" and have been very happy. They answer the phone everytime and any question I have is answered.I had called RRO first about the YJ kit but it was 80 bucks more for the whole kit f/r and it is the same as the Trail tough kit from what I can tell, same pic on each of their pages.who is this glenn guy everyone is jumpin on?

I suppose they were the first to take a piece of rectangular steel tubing and slap some tractor trailer lights into them? cmon, all this stuff has been done before by someone else. Sagging springs? Like Pro made the springs. Let's get some more tech talk going on this board, if I want to hear a lot of whiny bitches I'd be hanging around some of the other boards........ How often does this topic have to come up? Cmon guys move on. If you have nothing nice to say then say nothing. Instead of harping on about negative experiences you have had with XYZ vendors tell us about the good ones you have had. People respond better when you aren't constantly hanging s#$% on them.

I have had only good service and support from Glen. i have had parts shipped to Australia with no worries. he has answered numerous emails i have sent in the past promptly and when I was over there in 99 he was nothing but nice to me. i can say the same about Spidertrax.
