What does it mean when people say a "divorced transfercase"?

It means that it only gets to keep HALF of the transmission... :laughing:

No really. Theres two different ways to mount a tcase- married or divorced. Married means that the tcase is bolted directly to the back of the transmission and the output of the trans couples directly to the input of the tcase. Divorced means that the transmission is 2wd style with an output yoke on the back and the tcase is mounted seperately on it's own crossmemeber, with a very short driveshaft going between the trans and tcase.
