Alright Guys Im in the process of designing my 4 link and Im trying to determine the placement for my upper arms. With the upper arms triangulated to eliminate the panhard bar. Just have a couple questions about it.

1. I've been told that to triangulate my uppers I want to be with at least 40* separation. Is that correct? Whats the optimal compromise between arm length and separation dergree.

2. I've heard two different things about how long my uppers should be. I've heard that they should be about 70% as long and I've also heard that they should be about 6" shorter than the lowers. Which one of these is correct?

Thats all I've got for now, I'll prolly have more questions as I keep going. Im going to post this in jeep talk as well, so if you want to post their that would be cool.

p.s. flame suit on! :flipoff2:

get a four link calculator and play around with the figure until you get the results you want (low antisquat etc)

only thing is that you need to know where you can mount the links and what your limits are...

bigblackblur, use the search to find 'four link calculator'. This excell program is indespensible. It is a great program for plugging in all your measurements and angles and getting some solid answeres.

As far as how to design your four link, it's gonna take a lot of research.....there's a million ways to skin a cat. The numbers you have (40 degrees seperation and 70% of lower link length) match up with what Xtreme4x4 tv said the other day, but there's lots of other ways to do it.

I replied to your other post and then ran into this. As a rule, do not crosspost your questions. If it is newbie then put it there, if not, then don't, but do not put it everywhere. That is not how it is done here.
