I got a 98 zj with 33's and 4.5"s of lift. For some reason, whenever I'm doing a sharp turn, I'm getting this horrible popping and clicking noise that seems to be coming from the front end. I think it might be the front cv's going out, but I'm not 100% sure. Any suggestions on what it is? :smokin:

Ok, your front end is messed up. Check your wheel bearings and cv/u-joints. Then delete this thread.
This is the worst tuesday I have seen in a while.
Go to Paypal and send Lance all of your money. He will use the mighty power of the PBB to find you a clue for an affordable price. He will then use the rest at taco bell.

if you are getting a repetitive clicking when turning, your axle shaft CV's are toast, you need new ones, they cannot be rebuilt. if you get one or two loud pops when turning or changing direction, your front diff is probably trashed and in need of a major overhaul

If you have the 249 tcase it may have a bad VC. A bad VC will cause the front end to bind in turns. You can either get a new VC to stick in, about $400 to $500 from what I have heard, have someone else rebuild the tcase, $1000+, or swap in a 231 or 242. I spent $150 at the junkyard for a 242 and about 2 days on the swap. The only thing is you have to swap inputs from the 249 to the 242, and that means a complete disassemble of both cases.
