A friend of mine has a 1997 Landcruiser with a blown engine that he'll give me for really cheap. I can also get an LT1 for a decent price. So I thought why not put the LT1 in the cruiser? I looked at advanced adapters and didn't see any adapters for a cruiser this new. I know I can wire the LT1 with a painless wiring kit pretty easily. Im not worried about space issues or motor mounts just the transmission. How are the trannys controlled in the 1997? Can I just make a bellhousing adapter and have the flywheel re-drilled to fit the torque conquerter? If so How do I wire the transmission? Or should I use a chevy tranny and try to adapt it to t-case? I didn't see anything on the AA website. Does anyone else make this part or could I have a machine shop do it or something? I really want to do this but am not real familiar with the newer landcruisers yet. (Im sure I will be soon though) What is the best way to go about this swap? Any and all help would be appreciated.
THanks,
Jeff

I have seen 3 FZJ-80's with LT-1's and they all had the 4L60-E tranny adapted to the Toyota transfer case. I have no idea where they got the adapter.
You can try maverick@cowtown.net , Gary was involved in the swap and may be able to give you some pointers.
It is a wonderful engine as you know. Go for it.

Sign-up for the 80 Series list (I think there is a link to it from this site http://www.ih8mud.com/ ).
There is a guy on this list that in addition to doing the LT1 swap on his cruiser I believe also has a little business going selling kits (can't remember his name at the moment). He has a white 92' FJ80 or LT80 ;)
Actually, I think the link to the 80 Series List on ih8mhud.com isn't the current site, try this instead http://www.lcool.org.

www.ozemail.com.au/~marks4wd is a link to an adapter to use the LC tranny with the Chevy motor. Jeff Jones is a good contact for info on V8s into 80s. I think he is a member of Lone Star Land Cruisers. You might check their site. Or he can be found on the above mentioned 80 series list.
Later!

Okay, aprreciate the help! You guys are starting to scare me though.
Jeff Jones is a good contact for info on V8s into 80s.
I am Jeff Jones but I don't know anything about Landcruisers! Just a coincidence I guess. Well I will keep researching and see if this is something I want to get into. Ive done 350 swaps before but haven't done a fuel injected one yet. Thanks for the help guys.

Do what Nolen says.
Contact Gary. He can get you in contact with JJJ. Between the two of them you will find all the info you need.
Somewhere in the trail report pics at lslc.org there are some current pics of Jeff's "Whale". The ones on the bio page are old.

Well, I still want to do it. Only problem is the guy I was going to get the landcruiser for doubled his price. He found out what he thinks he can part it for over the next hundred years and wants to sell it at that price. So I'll just call back in a few weeks and see if anything is gone yet and make my offer again. As for now I think Im going cad 500 in my 91 toy pickup. HA HA HA
