what is the point of this tool?
It releases the carrier bearing preload so you don't have to fight the thing with a prybar & hammers.

AFAIK there's only two companies that actually manufacture them and they both look the same no matter what company stamps their name on it and sells it afterwards.

Here's the most overpriced one I could find (http://www.thepartsbin.com/cartools/speciality_tools-differential_housing_spreader__lpr_otc_col__model_ 7071_rpr_-d.html). without wasting to much of my time on your question. I am not affiliated with that vendor in any way.

With your crappy attitude I don't blame you for trying to do it yourself. If you talk to everyone in the same tone you type, don't be surprised when you get screwed. You reap what you sow eh?

It's called "creative billing"
Examples:
-I used a razor blade to open the box your parts were shipped in, it's dull now. I can only buy razor blades in ten packs so I'll pass the cost to you accordingly with a "handling fee" of $5.
-I had to walk to the dumpster to throw your old parts out even though an old man comes by once a week and thanks me for giving him my scrap metal
for free. "Disposal fee" $10
- I shipped an order to somebody that was really nice on the telephone and didn't figure in a $2 box. I'll just charge it to your bill to keep my books balanced.
-The list goes on and on.......

Technically I didn't overcharge you for a damn thing. Want to find the best tool or part at the best price? Be tactful and polite - it's called "common courtesy" even though it's not at all common. I'll usually go out of my way to help someone that is a pleasure to business with. Think anyone will worry about not having you as a repeat customer?
