Check valve would be neat. You can also run your breather up high then back down. never mind guess that only works for the gas tank and tranny, no need to have the line run all the way back to the axle.

what about a 'tip valve' for a fuel cell? Or just make one outta tubing and a ball bearing?

are you talking 'bout the plastic ones like on the TJ's? they don't close very tight.

Well, I think they were plastic. I've had mine on it's top for an hour or better and never lost any fluids from anywhere except the NP tranny which leaked out of the tower. It's all stock pieces. Work great for me anyway.

The best thing to do is to loop the hose at highest mounting point. Then install a fuel filter on the end. This will keep the diff fluid from leaking out. think of it like a full catchup bottle. vapor lock keeps it from coming out..

I came up with an idea...pipe thread to an adapter with the line union cap and a ball bearing inside. just drill or cut the AN fitting on the flare part so it can breath when the ball is at the bottom and once rolled the ball will seal on the opening in the line union cap.

Well i made them today...
barbed to male flare
coupling reduser
barbed to pipe thread
sling shot ammo (ball bearing)

cut the male flare with the dremmel so air would pass by the ball. When tiped the ball falls down onto the pipe thead(female flare) and seals. I put water in it and let it sit for 20-30 min and notthing came out so i think they will hold gear oil and tranny fluid. It worked so wel that im going to use them on my gas tank vent lines.

If you are talking about the ball in the fuel filler i think it is really to keep people from siphoning gas out, as you said the thing is nowhere close to a tight seal. Many Tjs have cut those out, your tank still won't leak.

Isn't there a danger of the ball getting stuck and clogging the hose? I like the up and down loop idea better.

not unless there is vacume on the top half or some one puts glue in it...LOL. Is exactly the same as a roll vent that they put on fuel cells, Just home made a cheaper. but hey to each there own!
