: Hub, axle bearing vibe problem, help diagnosing please?

Since I took of my tractor tires (MT bias Baja Claws)off and put on the BFG MT KM's I can hear and feel everything. I now seem to have a vibe problem I never had before... I have a 3-1/2" RE kit with 1-3/4" coil spacers, transfer case is not lowered since I have a SYE and a CV slip driveshaft.
Here's the problem. This is not drivline specific (I think) rather a bad part somewhere?? When I'm in 5th going about 100KM/H if I hit a bump straight on, or put the weight of the vehicle on the passengers side I hear this unpleasant grinding/rubbing sound. It sounds just like what a tire slightly rubbing on a fender at 100KM/H would, but nothing is rubbing !!!

If anyone's had the same problem or has an idea please give me your suggestiongs...

If not please answer this question: Will the TJ D44 rear shaft fit on either side?? Will the TJ D30 Hub's fit on either side?? I want to swap sides on each and see if that switches the side I hear the problem on so I can determin if it's a bad hub, axle bearing???

Thanks in advance

1 Check wheelbearings by jacking up each corner and trying to wiggle the tire.

2 Replace offending wheelbearning.

3 Wipe hands on pants.

What Jakester... said. Try to wiggle the tire left, right and from the top and bottom. Spin the tire and give it a listen too. You might hear shit grinding around if it's worn out. A worn bearing assembly will be pretty obvious. You can switch them left to right, but you're wasting time to do that. If it happens when weight shifts, putting the weight on the passenger side, check that side first.
I had both sides of my old YJ go bad at once. Kind of sucked because those assemblies run $110 each.

Ditto. That's what happens when you run 35s on a D30...
I still have my old D30 lying around with two brand new wheelbearing assemblies on it if anyone's interested! ;)

Thanks for the tips on the front hub's...

Any insight as to the rear axle bearings?? I have a feeling that's where it's comming from. Are the axle shafts on the Dana 44 interchangable?

Swapping the hub's and/or the alxe shafts in the rear will be the quickest way to know for sure which is the offending part!!

As for the Hub's cost, I can get them here new from the dealer next door for $115 Canadain (which is about $75 USD). Gotta love how Canadaian's can buy American made products cheaper than americans :D (but if we gotta buy them from US vendor's we get reamed :( )

No the shafts are not interchangeable...the passenger side is slighly longer by an inch or two.

For those who're interested... My newley developed passengers side vibe turned out to be my DRIVERS side wheel bearing :) I jacked the Jeep last night, checked each wheel and the only one that seemed off, was the drives side hub. That hub, notabley, was the only wheel that hasn't been replaced (including the rear), so I guess it's due, I just didn't expect the drivers side to seem as though it was the passengers side.

SniperFire, thanks for posting your link, great info. Bookmarked for future referance.
