come on people were slowin down on the weekend updates here. :flipoff2:
well i went up to butte meadows, and on the way up there a smog plug/bolt (the little ones above the exhaust manifolds) fell out, so i was stuck in forest ranch until a guy helped me out and said he might have one at his house, thanks for him i was on my way back up the hill.

the biggest deer i have shot!! even though its only a forken horn, it weight about 150lbs a lot of weight to be carrying down a hill for a mile yeah a mile!!!
it was worth it, my friends grandfather who is around 85yrs, said it was the biggest forken horn he as ever seen, and he has shot a lot of deer in his time...

Saturday I spent most of my day at a junkyard extracting all the things needed to convert my Mom's Scout 80 from a 3spd to a 4 spd, so when it's FINALLY done she'll have a little easier time driving it. The junkyard idiots cut the crossmember into three pieces "pulling" it out of the truck, so after may dad was done with work, we went back out and pulled the other one they had there. I think all told I spent 6 hours in that damn yard. I was suppose to go finish siting in my rifle later that afternoon, but my buddy ended up working all day, so no go.
Sunday. Dan and I hadn't worked on the crawler in quite sometime. Both he and I had other projects we had to catch up one, but Sunday we had a work day plan. After swapping the tires on my Scout I bought from him (some bitchin' Pro Comp MT's), we were off to chase parts and out to theBearing Tech (http://www.precisionbearings.net/) shop where the Scout was being stored. After about 6 hours of work we had the majority of the laundy list done, including swapping out the old TRASHED set of rear springs for some new ones. The Scout now sits level and has good springs in the back. Next step is a traction bar so we don't toast this set as quickly as the last.
All in all a very productive weekend. Now I am sitting through a very crappy day at work :mad3:

Last weekend I got stuck.

This past weekend I helped one guy wrench on an XJ, and another replace the mainshaft in his t18, then bolt on the bell and atlas and hoist the whole thing up into his jeep/buggy. Went to the lake with my Dad and brother to take out the piers. Today I got my dog out of dog jail (quarantine) and finished up the brake lines on my '64. Now I just need to mount a power steering pump, mount my steering column, and connect the column to the box, then regear my axles. It should be wheelable then.

No brakes + Not enough bumper + plenty of bumper on the other guy = no radiator.. and no fan.. no fan belt..

What may not be obvious in this pic, is that the Mike Ismail/IH Only RPT motor mount is fine, but the 700lbs Gryphin Racing built 304 is trying escape through the bottom of the frame, and it's taking the frame side engine mounts with it.. and I've lost a bolt somewhere along the line, too.

Almost :shaking: finished fabbing my passenger seat brackets. F*&^....some of the little things take forever.... :flipoff2:
Also picked up my new(used) D30 & D44 SOA'd axles from a P4x4 member. :D Just need some minor "tuning" (pads, brake line things, oh...and a proper drag link...) and I'll be about ready to install. :)

I wheeled...... in Moab. Even though I was in Moab, I was nursing a sore elbow from my flop on the Rubicon and I was there by myself. So, I didn't even offload the Scout.... I just dropped the gooseneck with the Scout still on it at the campground and wheeled the tow rig instead. :flipoff2: I just ran the "easy" scenic trails that pretty much any stock high clearance vehicle can run. Here's a pic of Chicken Corners.... I got the fullsize CTD past the squeeze and all the way to the end and back with no body damage much to the surprise of a couple on a quad, another couple on dirt bikes and a third couple in a Cherokee.

I worked on completing more wiring tasks, this time it was the heated PT crusier seats... for the wife!!! started fitting the full soft top for winter. Also decided to go with a vintage air/heat unit rather that trying to mess with the scout chit.
Getting ready for a big bear run oct 8th. going to run john bull & holcum jeep trail. :smokin: :smokin:

Just worked on Installing new rod, and main bearings in the 345. I also stared at the Gm axles i recently installed. It handles so much better on every kind of terrain due to the full-width. I love it. I always wondered what it would be like to have a nicely built scout, now i know.
