I might be buying this 87 toyota extracab, but it seems to have a fair bit of oil on the bottom of the tranny, and some on the swaybar
Have to start another thread because no one is answering my other one.
Is this a simple fix, or should I be concerned about all the oil? Anything I can test to make sure its okay?
Thanks

pressure wash and check your oil levels. which ever one is low is going to be the culprit.but be sure to clean it up that will make it a lot easier to find.psot back if you need more help

I can't just clean it up and check, I haven't bought it yet.
Whatever it is, could it be expensive?

shouldn't be to expensive if it is rear main engine seal or front transmission seal.those two will be the ones that are the most labor intensive.if it is either one of those replace the clutch while transmission is out.if you can't do job yourself expect to pay about 4-5 hours labor plus parts. if it is engine pan gasket or valve cover cheap easy and something you can do in driveway.if truck runs good and price is right buy it and fix it right so you don't have to do it again.

eh my moms talking it to a mechanic to get him to look at it, she doesn't trust my abilities I guess
Anyways im sure if its leaking I can always replace it. Even if it takes me 10 hours, i'd be more satisfied than paying someone to do it.
We'll see how it goes at the mechanics later this week...
