i been searching around trying to find a solution to my exhaust manifold problem. basically the outlets on the manifolds will land right on my frame rails if i try to put the 4.3 in right now. i read a couple posts where people said they just cut and turned their stock manifolds to get em to angle in and clear. Has anyone done this, and if so how did you cut them and at what angle. also do you have any pics. anyone know a good way to weld the cast manifolds. i'm thinkin gas welding would work better than mig cause the heat wouldn't get so concentrated and there would be less chance for cracking. any ideas?

You could look into shoenfeld (sp) headers, They make all kinds of bends with weld on collectors.
I needed some fenderwell exit BB chevy headers for my jeep, no one makes them, so I took some of shoenfelds BBC headers and put the right header on the left side and the left header on the right and did some cut and paste with different collectors and it works great... I probably have $250 in the set

I actually used stock tubular exhaust headers off the full-size truck 4.3.
The flanges end up the same place as do the cast ones.
I simply cut the flanges off, used some tube to extend the headers down,
then reattached the flanges below the frame rails. I actually added curved
tube additions to mine. Worked fine.
Have heard of people modifying the cast ones, but have not seen it done.
