Does anyone know of any good articles on how to do a four link or a three link in the rear. I'm SOA frond and rear on my cj7 but would like to change it to coils or a 1/4 elips(which one do you think is better?). Does anyone have any pictures of rigs that have had this done to them, and how hard is it to design the geometry of all the links?

See previous post on a poll for triangulating 4 link. No plans for a 4 link came up (damn!!), but a couple of good write ups on how to do a 1/4 eliptical with a Y type upper link. I'll second that interest in wanting to find details on someones successful four link. Dimensions, angles, material specs (no chromoly please).

Yea, I saw that post on the triangulated TJ but I'm looking for what you said dimensions and lenths and the basics of what you have to do, like how it needs to move and how many degrees of movement do you need in you controle arms. Is 30 degrees enough, too much, or too little.
Or you could look at the topic of the week

Finally got to test mine. I think it works well. Stable and flexes ok too.

Go triangulated 3 link its easier and helps cut out on the rear steer. This link explains how to do it even thoagh its for the 1/4 eliptic. The links are the same for coil overs to or springs.

I did a traditional 4 link on my friend's 85 cj7 and used aerostar coils. I'll try to get some pics up for you this week. I did raise the gas tank into his floor though. Stay tuned. It's damn easy when you know what you are doing.

What is the difference between a four link and a three link, is it that the two upper links come together into one before attaching to the axle in a three link while they stay appart and attach to both sides of the pumpkin on a four link?:rasta:

I believe what you're talking about is a triangulated 3-link. I do believe that this pretty much the same as a four-link...:D
