: Towing a non-op vehicle with a dolly?

Anyone got a vehicle code book handy? Wondering if it is legal to tow a vehicle on non-op with a dolly. Just bought one, already have one at home. What the hell was I thinking.

The reason I ask, flat towing requires current road registration. CHP told me that if a wheel is on the ground, they will ticket. If I wasn't going to the bay area to pick it up I wouldn't sweat it as much....

Thanks,

Brian

As far as I know it should be on a trailer. You might check into a one day moving permit with DMV and see if that would save you if you were pulled over.

The tires cannot touch the pavement. I am sure of this.

I kknow up here a dolly is legal but only if the vehicle and dolly and tow vehicle are all plated and insured. never mind that a tow strap here is a legal way to tow a vehicle!
